My Dr. wanted me to stop taking my BC because that can cause blood clots. Other than that I ddin't have to stop anything. (not that I was really taking anything else)

Your surgeon will also have you stop taking aspirin and other NSAIDS a week or ten days prior to surgery because of clotting issues.  Be sure that you mention all of the vitamins that you take to your surgeon as some vitamins can cause issues with clotting.

My PS had no problems w/ taking my BCP, she was more considered w/ Aspirin, Advil and certain vitamins.  I even took mine w/ a TINY sip of water the morning of surgery.  Every PS has different requirements.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should give you a list of medications to avoid.  I would also recommend stopping BC because of possible clotting issues but I would check with your dr.   As scared as I was before surgery, I wouldn't want to risk even the slightest chance of a clot.  But that's just me.

Ease up on Vitamin E (even in your multi if it's a large dose) and you might look into TED stockings if you've been on BCPs a while.

Along with the suggestions from the others, my PS didn't want me drinking green tea.  I think it is a blood thinner as well.  Your PS should be able to provide you with a list of things to avoid, and if not, I would ask.  Good luck!

Hi Kelly

I advise you talk to DR Davidson, I know that you can't take any advil or aspirin,   I think Birth control may be out of the questions but make sure you use precaution before the surgery..
Good luck and let me know ok?

You will be fine
