HI All,

I asked a similar question a while back, but I was hoping I might get some new responders!

Did anyone use FMLA while having surgery in Mexico? I need to have job protection! I have the time to cover it, but just want to get some feelers out for what others did or went through.

Thanks!!

Summer vacation? I can't take more than two weeks vacation, maybe two and a half. How long was your recovery?

I'm having my surgery in December and I'm taking 8 to 12 weeks of FMLA.  As long as the surgeon fills out the FMLA paperwork properly, it shouldn't be a problem.  I'm going to send him my paperwork the first week of November.  Have you talked to your HR dept?  I'd ask if you were out for surgery, how does FMLA work.  It's not an issue where you have your surgery or who your surgeon is -- the fact that you are having surgery is the issue and you won't be able to wor****il the surgeon releases you.

I used 2 weeks of FMLA when I had my RnY, but wasn't sure about using it for "elective" surgery.  Good to know it's not a problem.
