hello everyone

I have had 7 surgeries, so my doctors has told me he cannot save
my belly button, during my tt  on Aug 7, my daughter says you will look
strange, but I turn 50 on Aug 4, so I dont think I will be showing my stomach anyway
so

who does not have a belly button?
was it strange getting used to?
where you upset when you found out that you were not
going to have one?

I need the next week to go fast, so I can get this over with

Actually it's not as weird as you might think. I have a new belly button but before my surgery I saw posts from a couple of  people who didnt have one anymore. I just could not imagine so I googled it and it shows several pics.
Just google 'no belly button' and you'll be able to see what your new nice smooth belly will look like. I'll tell you, the first few weeks mine was so crusty and yuck looking I was wishing I didnt have one. it's looking more normal now.

They can't create a new/fake belly button?

If it's really something that you have a hard time getting used to, I know it sounds silly, but you can always have one tattooed on. I know people who had to have mastectomies because of breast cancer, and they're nipples had to be removed... so after they were all healed, they had them tattooed back on.

I chose not to have a belly button put in.  I wanted to be different.  I think I look fabulous without one!  I do have fantom belly button pains though!  I knew it would be something extra to heal and didn't feel like dealing with it.

I love not having one!

Due to finding a baseball size umbilical hernia during my extended TT, my PS was unable to save my belly button which I knew was a possibility beforehand. He told me that he could make an incision that would scar like one if I really missed it. I have always had an ugly belly button my whole life, so I do not miss it AT all!! In fact, I like having a totally flat tummy, no indent, and I also am too old to be showing my belly anyway. Good luck, you will LOVE your plastics. Make sure to take some stool softeners!!!!!!!!!

Dear Debta,
I had a very large hernia repair and tt on July 8th and my ps was also not able to save my belly button.  I totally didn't care.  He told be before hand that I might lose it and I told him not to spend extra time trying not to save it.  When I had surgery last summer (twisted bowels) they went right through my belly button and it had a really hard time healing.  I have also read other posts about belly buttons having a hard time healing.  When a friend and I first looked at my post op belly we didn't even notice there was no belly button.

Good Luck.

My doc wanted me to keep it--- I didn't--- but he lost out because the hernia I have actually meant it couldn't be saved. You won't miss it. Just another thing to pull, heal, and get necrotic.

hello well me too have no belly button!!!!! I keep joking maybe I will have one tattooed on but I don't know if I really will a good friend of mine is all about it an eye in place where it should be so I can say I have a third eye but who knows!

I was really upset when I woke up and the surgon said I was unable to save the core because of the massive hernia but truely at first I WAS PIST?!@$@!  To say the least then    .... now I am just fine with it in fact I said I will tell no one but now it is just part of my journey story and my 5 year old has a big mouth and who I haven't told she does! HEHEHE!
it's all good though!!!!
