I can't help you with the medicare, but the pain you mentioned in your breasts sounds like what I had.  I was afraid that I'd damaged them, so I went to my gyny who had me see the breast specialist in their office.  He diagnosed a torn/chronically pulled chest wall muscle, and had me strap it up for 3 weeks, only letting them out to shower.

No improvement.  Did it again, still no improvement.  Did it again.  Yet again, no improvement.

That diagnosis and the letter he sent to my insurance company got me a breast lift/reduction and brachioplasty covered by my HMO, as he was able to categorically state that without those 3 reconstructive surgeries (both he and my surgeons recommend to NEVER say "plastic surgery," ALWAYS refer to it as reconstruction), I would never heal because the excess skin on the breasts and arms would keep tearing the muscle.

Based on infections and scarring under the panni and buttocks (documented by my PCP - mainly the scarring did it for this one) I also got a circumferential LBL covered by my HMO.

We have no idea why, but they also agreed to inner thighs.  I'm having that done before they change their mind!

Best of luck to you getting your reconstruction covered - it's an incredible difference!

I don't think Medicare should pay for any plastic surgery. Even with skin and rash issues it is still cosmetic and it should not be up to taxpayers to pay the bill. I know it's hard to save the money to get it done but you can do it.
