I am 37 recently separated and don't know where to turn.
I had my weight loss surgery in 2004.
Now I have rolls of loose skin all around my midsection.
It is so uncomfortable, nothing fits, it is tender, and just pulls.
Please Please I will go anywhere can someone please help me.
I have talked to plastic surgeons and the ones I talk to will not even talk to me about Medicare.
They just say 10,000.00 .....
I have been trying to save that much but as a mother of three come on...
Please if anyone know of a surgeon that may be able to help me let me know.

do you know for a fact that Medicare will pay for plastic surgery?  If in fact, they will, I would talk to their office and ask for a list of doctors in your area willing to take Medicare.  Or you could go to their website and look for a list there.
I don't have any idea if they would pay for plastics or not.  But that would be where I'd recommend you'd start.

Yes I have WL friends in Ohio that have had their surgeries with Medicare.
I have to wear 2x shirts because of all the skin......and it is so tender from hanging all the time....
I want to feel good again.

i am on medicare myself and they do not preapprove.  sort of like a slot machine. after the surgery you hope the doc has the right reasons so medicare will pay for a panni or whatever. i guessing they won't pay for mine.  i even called them and they refused to say one way or the other. good luck to you.  you might contact medicare to get a list of docs who accept medicare.. vick

Yes I understand that they do not preapprove, however I can not even find a surgeon willing to work with me with Medicare.
I need a surgeon that can help me have the surgery with Medicare.

Actually, in some areas (like where I live), plastic surgeons will not work with you ANY kind of insurance (even if you already have the procedure PREAPPROVED by your insurance)!  NO one in my city -- even the PSs included in my PPO would do the panniculectomy and submit it to insurance.  The only thing they would do is have me pay full fee up front and then submit it myself for reimbursement of the contract rate. (This, in my opionion, is tantamount to them forcing PPO patients to pay the extra amount beyond insurance reimbursement, which violates their agreement with the PPO, but they "get around" this by saying that THEY consider a panniculectomy to be cosmetic (even if insurance ahs already determined the medical necessity) and therefore will not submit it.  If no one in the area will accept insurance, they know that a certain percentage of people will find SOME way to come up with the full cash amount out of pocket.

I actually did do that and then when I called the surgeons they were like "who told you I accept Medicare?" It has been crazy.

I am in the process of doing the research so when I reach my goal I will be ready. I have been looking for surgeons in my area.

When I read their web sites it says there is a consult fee and then you have to pay upfront and bill your insurance for reimbursement.

I have insurance thru my DH job and I also have Social Security Medicare. So I know that I will have trouble in getting it paid for. They say it has to be medically necessary.

I was told I can get the TT but I also need the girls done, I am having alot of pain at the top of them,  I get a stabbing pain when I bend over when getting dressed if I do not have a bra on or bending over in the shower. So I hope they consider that to be medically necessary.

But I have to find the Dr that will bill the insurance, there is no way I can pay up front.

So good luck to you.
