This is a plastic surgery message board.  You might be able to get more help on this site's main board, or specific surgery boards.

I had RNY (bypass) five years ago and I am very pleased.  I lost 150 lbs. and I have been able to maintain my goal weight.  Good Luck to you

How about the DS? I had the band and it wasn't effective at all for me, and for me the DS is the far better choice over RNY.

Good luck!

Yeah this is the plastic surgery board, so you might try your question on the main board or on the Band or RNY forums.
I had the Lap Band a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it!  It's been the perfect choice for me!
Good Luck with your question!

If you have more medical issues (diabetis, high blood pressure) gatric bypass has a better long term record in correcting those problems. In general if you're needing more then 125 lbs, bypass would be preferable. If you need less then 100 lbs, I'd steer you towards the band

Also keep in mind that if you can't be compliant with diet and lifestyle changes, the band is not a good choice for you.
