Changes in Eating After TT Question

This might seem like a weird question but I'm going to throw it out there. My weight loss surgery was the Duodenal Switch. I was left with a sleeve and prior to my TT I was eating what would be considered a normal sized meal. I could eat a small sandwich with meat and cheese and maybe a cup of soup. Or say like for dinner a piece of chicken and a couple small portions of sides.

Now fast forward to being almost 3 weeks post tummy tuck. I still get hungry and I have an appetite but good grief I fill up so fast now. Half a sandwich and a few bites of soup and I'm about to pop. My question is this. Do you think that with the muscle tightening it has put pressure on my sleeve and that could be the reason I'm feeling full so much faster now? I ran that same question by my adult son and he said that didn't sound possible. Said my stomach should be up higher than my abdominal muscles and the tightening shouldn't have interferred with my stomach. Another odd thing is with the extra skin gone and everything being tight I can actually feel my intestines digesting my food. I feel the air bubbles and enzymes moving things along. It's a really odd feeling and I can even feel it in my back.

All I know is that I can tell a big difference in what I can eat now and was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?

Hi Renee, after I had my TT, I felt the same way, not much appetite. Unfortunately, it only lasted a couple of months and now I feel more hungry than before my TT. Good luck, hope your loss of appetite lasts longer than mine did!!

I have the same feeling.  I had RNY.  I can't eat the same as before PS, as far as volume is concerned.  I can feel it moving thru too.  It's strange!!  I have actually lost weight too.  I didn't want to be this small, and my doc said not to lose anymore-AND I AM STILL SWOLLEN!!  So, I wonder what I truely do weigh.

Feeling your intestines churn your food is such a strange feeling. It's like aliens inside of you...LOL I'm still swollen too and I have also lost some weight.

I had the DS, and yes it is very normal for most of us regardless of surgery.  I didn't lose my appetite as long as some others, I just ate more smaller meals.  I'm at 4 weeks and my appetitie is back to normal for the most part.  I have a lot of swelling still so there are times I get fuller faster depending on what I eat.  I just feel like a stuffed sausage all the time!

Feeling like a stuffed sausage is exactly how I feel! That's the best description I have seen so far. It's weird. We have this surgery to get firmed up and I sit around and feel fatter. It's just odd.

I'm only 3 days out, but I have definitely noticed a huge difference. I had RNY. I don't know if it's because I'm still wearing a binder or what, but I can eat about half of what I used to before the TT. I'm sure I'll lose weight like this so I'm not complaining :)

I thought at first that it was maybe the residual effects of the anesthesia bit I'm far enough out now that I don't think that is what's causing it. I can eat about half of what I could before also. I'm just glad to know I'm not the odd man out and it seems to be fairly common. It won't hurt me to lose a few more pounds either!
