time off work?

I am having a tummy tuck and probably a breast lift the same time as my hernia repair in about 1.5 weeks.  How much time should I take off work?  I have a desk job - no lifting and can work from home if needed.  I don't get paid for time off (besides vacation time), so looking to minimize it.

Hi Jayme; it seems we are having the same problem/concern.  I had my TT one week ago and I was thinking about going back to work in three weeks post-op but my legs are so swollen at this point I am not sure that will be possible.   Good Luck with your upcoming surgery:o)

Oh wow - definitely not what I was wanting to hear!  My plan at this time was to take 1 week off.  But I could ask for 3 weeks, unpaid if I HAD to, but I definitely don't want to NEED to.

I started 1/2 days in the office at 3 weeks from a total lower body lift with vertical knee to groin incision thigh lift. The thing that prevented me the most was being able to sit in a chair for long periods of time. I dont think it would have been as big of a deal with the tummy only vs all the way around and butt lift.

I recently had tummy tuck with muscle tightening and lipo (a little over 3 weeks ago and had BR 6 years ago).  With my tt I was back at work (desk job - no lifting - 2 weeks later.  It would have been the same with my breast reduction (which was basically the same as a lift).  I will tell you that on the Wednesday of that week it was my worst feeling day out of the whole surgery...then by next day it had passed.

Everyone is different.  Just make sure you take care of you and don't over do it girl!  I've always been a really quick healer.  And, I walked upright from the get go with the tummy tuck.

Best of the best to you and your healing and praying for a speedy recovery!

My doctor is keeping me off for 6 weeks.  Aside from being very tired, I probably could have gone back after 2 weeks.
