Plastics done by residents

I am just wondering - how do you get accepted to be a patient in a residency program??  Do you just make an appointment through the teaching hospital, or is there something special you need to do?  I am starting to think about plastics, and there is a teaching hospital very close to me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
