Calling all thigh lift patients!!
I had a medial thigh lift without the hockey stick extension (where most of the wound breakdown occurs) because my legs were very thin and muscular......and while I had long incisions (on my profile)......my healing was great - I was back doing yoga ridiculously soon aftward and frankly - my scars are long - flexible and very thin - think the stretching poses helped with that outcome). My surgeon won't do a thigh lift on anybody with heavy legs - and if lipo is needed - a couple of months between that and the skin resection helps with the outcome. I think it helps with all plastics to go in very fit and as muscled as you can get.......recovery is a great deal easier. This is the technically most difficult one - because the tension forces on tissues are great and the upper incision is difficult to keep clean. I was able to get rid of wound dressings within two days of surgery - which helped tremendously - but I did wear drains for two weeks and had them pulled even though they still were putting out over 90 ccs each......as they were infiltrating. Swelling was tolerable as long as I didn't work out too much (which I tend to do...).......Susan
