My sister is having a real dilema deciding on if I should have a thigh lift.  I want to hear your experience, good, great, bad, or ugly!!!!!!

My sister's surgeon has mentioned some really horrible possibilities that could happen and so I want to know if the risk is worth it.  Did you get the results that were good enough or worth it?  Whi*****ision did you have:  horeshoe, vertical, public line?

Thank you so much in advance for all your feedback!!!!

(I myself have done a LBL and and UBL with Brachioplasty done already)

My sister's surgery is scheduled for 3 weeks from now and she is trying to decide if she should include this procedure.

Well this one I can give advice on!!  I am 7 weeks out from my thigh lift....I have the incisions that go around the top of my thighs (from front to back) and also have an incision down the inside of my leg about 1/2 way!!
Other that the fact that I still have a drain..( I am a juicy  bugger)  I am glad I did the thigh lift....I am still very swelled, but for me my thighs were holding me back from wearing smaller pants!  I was to the point that to get jeans up over my thighs my waist was way to big on the pants...and I was always showing crack...and everyone knows crack kills...LOL
I will be honest of all my my 4 surgeries this was the most difficult, not due to pain just the uncomfort of where the incisions are at!!  Trying to keep them dry and such!!
So if you were to ask would I do it again I would say Definately!!  I will admit I did a have a few days of buyers remorse!!  But I am totally over that now and liking what I am seeing as they heal!!
Good luck in your decision and if I can help further just let me know

I had a inner thigh lift on 3/30, check out my pictures, yes it was worth the pain. truthfully it hurt more than my TT but then I knew it would. I prepared myself for it. I used a raised  toilet seat so I didn't have to bend down so much & I had a stool in front of the toilet so my legs didn';t hang. I had no infection . I did have a place near the knee that kind of split but remember it is sewn from the inside also . my PS doesn't use staples if he had I would have never gotten it done . he sews from the inside and put ster strips on the outside my major pain was about 2 or 3 days, I didn't take Narcotics cause they make me sick & tired so I only took tylenol. I say every hour it felt better & netter and yes it was all worth it. my incision runs from my knee to my pubic area that is the way my surgeon prefers. I wanted the pubic line incision but he said you get a better result with the vertical incision he said gravity will make the pubic line incision fall faster, maybe taht is because i am older also.
I did have a stitch that refused to surface and so there was a small amount of fluid coming from it and he kept a watch on it but he had to remove it about 3 weeks later , he did it in the office with lidocaine to numb it and there was no pain & the next day it was alll healed up.
You have to have some pain to be beautiful
Good Luck to your sister

I am almost 3 weeks out from a thigh lift with the incision placed in my pubic/bikini line area.  It was definately my most painful procedure to recover from...I also had BA and extended TT at the same time.  Hard area of keep from moving, rubbing, sitting on, keep dry, etc...and very tender there.  I spent a week regretting it, but now it isn't as bad and I will be happy once it is healed I think..  It made a huge difference and now I can wear shorts without being embarassed!  I originally went in for just breasts, but ended up getting the rest because as my hubby said..."it would be like putting a Mercedes emblem on a Eugo...I wouldn't be happy overall.  He was right!  I am happy I got it all done!

Hi,

I had a thigh lift upper incisions only.  Called a spiralthighplasty.  I would only wear shorts that went to my knees before.  Now I will wear boy shorts.  I could even wear a bathing suit bottom, however when I swell you can still see the incision just below my buttocks, but when i am not swollen the incision is well hidden under the buttocks

The best thing?  My thigh skin no longer floats in the swimming pool.  It was a tough surgery, but I had multiple procedures at once, so can't tell how it would have been alone.

I am very glad I did it.

Hi,
I'm only one week out today but have no regretts (knock on wood.)  I had a LBL,abdominoplasty with MR,  but lift & augmentation, lipo, and spiral thighplasty.  So far, the incisions look great and the pain hasn't yet been too bad.  But the difference is amazing!  I actually like my thighs, the crepe hanging skin is gone and smooth tight skin is in it's place.  I haven't been able to see the scar under my buttocks yet but I'm hopeful they will be as great as the others.

I am 3 weeks out from my thigh lift.  I carried the majority of my extra weight in my legs.  I am thrilled  with the results, and have had a very easy recovery,no pain, I only took one pain pill and that was the day of surgery when I got home.  You can look at my pictures if you friend me, and the password is legs.  Did I get perfect legs...HECK no, but they are 100% better than before.

I am 1 week out from my thigh lift. I have the full cut. It has been uneventful and relatively pain free. A few Tylenol. Yes it is worth it and yes I would do it again and again for all the reasons others have mentioned on your post. Especially needing to have pants altered and how nice it will be to be able to wear shorter pants and skirts and not having the cottage cheese flapping in the wind.

Enjoy the journey...its great!

Well I guess I am going to be the only one to post a negative opinion then.   I had a full thigh lift  septemer 2008 - a Y-shaped insicion running from the groin crease to the knee.

Compared to all the other surgeries I have had the results have been mixed at best.  There is a total  improvement in the large fold of skin around the groin area (I had two HUGE  fist-fulls before, now it is fairly tight),  but the cut down to the knee seems to have done nothing but make my legs look  constantly swolen an misshapen.    My legs still wobble and shake, I still feel my legs are out of proportion with the rest of my body and I still have skin above the knee to just below the groin crease which floats in the bath tub and hangs if I raise my leg in certain directions.

My surgeon is very honest, he explained beforehand that legs are difficult .......... I have just had lipo done on them and we are now waiting for the swelling to go down to assess the possibilities of further improvements with a free redo.  - but I'm kind of hoping removing some of the fat will allow the skin to snap back.

If I could go back I would probably just have the top cut and not have the scar running to the knee - or I would request lipo first as maybe I simply have too much remaining fat in my legs to pull the skin tight enough to get  a good result.

Having said all that my results do look quite similar to other photos I have seen on plastic surgery websites - and I do have a tendancy to be a perfectionist.

Pain wasn't too bad but still down is very dificult, especially going to the bathroom.   Being a guy I could avoid doing this too often (sorry TMI)......... but women would suffer more as you have no option, well unless one were to go standing in the shower and then wash clean?

I would be very careful about selecting a surgeon for the thigh procedure...I have heard it is a very technically difficult procedure and some doctors do a much better job than others.  many will tell you you don't need it to avoid doing one.  I had 2 surgeons do that to me and later heard through the grapevine that some surgeons don't like doing them...all surgeons have some procedures they do alot more of or specialize in so find someone with ALOT of thigh experience.
