Hello everyone!Just got back from Monterrey,Mexico from having LBL,BR,and AL.I found a general doctor whom i went to visit yesterday. He gave me his opinion about how my skin was sewn, and I don't know if he's against surgery being done outside of the country, but he said the sewing was poorly done.My left axilar and underneath my left breast incision is split open.I've contacted my plastic surgeon in Mexico, but I havent got a response. So I wanna know if anyone has had the same experience with wounds being opened, and what I should do.I'm 14 days Post-OP and still have my stitches on.So if anyone could give me advice on this,I really appreciate it!
Thanks!

I had a breast reduction and reconstruction in 2000 and my right incision running from my nipple to my ribs came gaping open. Since they will not restitch it, my "plastic surgeon" told me to buy Desitin. Regular Desitin has more zinc in it than in a tube of zinc itself. He had me apply this and put sterile gauze on it a few times a day. It healed like nobodys business. Every day the split in the incision got smaller and smaller. I swear buy it! It doesn't burn or anything like that and won't hurt the fact that your skin is open. We use it when the kids get cut to help heal the wound and make the scar smaller. It works!

Anyone can have an open wound.  I don't know if your dr was implying that the reason you got your open wound due to poor stitching or not but it does happen.  Did this dr not tell you how to treat it?  I would find another dr if I were you.  I find that female drs are more sympathetic.  When I considered plastics in Mexico I spoke to two PCPs that I had used.  The male dr wanted nothing to do with it since I was considering going out of the country.  My female PCP who I had seen in the past was so supportive and excited as a matter of fact.  She even offered to prescribe the pain meds for me. She said if I ran into any serious problems she would refer me to a surgeon. She said they wouldn't like it but they'd get over it.  She was great about it .

He finally got back with me  (my doc in Mexico)and told me pretty much what you just said about "it can happen to anyone" and in the place the insicion its located is  a very common place for the insicion to split. well, my PCP here told me if it get worse he will make a referral to a specialist but, by seeing him, I feel like I  have made one of the greatest mistakes in history by going to Mexico. I strongly believe that my desicion for going outside of the contry for reconstructive surgery should be respected , and if he confirmed with me the post-op care prior to my surgery, he should help me instead. but anyways, I think everything will improved and I got my diaper rash cream.........so, hopefully, everything will heal soon.

Just ignore his comments and try not to let it get to you.  I'm sure if money wasn't an issue, you probably would have stayed in the states.  The only reason why I didn't go to Mexico was because I did lots of researh and ended up using a residency program for almost the same price.  Best thing I could have ever done.

Yep, diaper rash cream sounds like a strange thing to use. But I'm here to tell you, my incision was waaaayyyy open, I thought the inside of my boob was going to fall out. But this started healing it right up and I was amazed! It definately reduces the size of scarring as well. Hope it works for you as well as it did for me.

I'm so sorry you are having problems heeling. I am hoping to have a lot of work done next summer in Monterrey. I was wondering who you ps was there? I'm concerned that your ps didn't respond to your concerns. If it is Dr. S, I may need to reconsider my decisions. Thanks.
