Hi everyone. I am new to this particular site. I visit another board. I was wandering how many of you had a BA with the LapBand? DId you have fluid taken out?

Hi Darlene,
I have not had BA however I did have pani removal and TT almost three weeks ago. I did not have any fluid taken out of my band. I really didn't notice it being any tighter after surgery either. Some say they do get tighter after surgery so I guess everyone is different. My appetite was allmost non-existence for about 10 days though so I had very little interest in eating. I mostly did protein shakes and yogurt during that time.
Best of luck on your journey!

I had BA, TT and lipo doen 3 weeks ago and did not have any fluid taken out.  However, I did have rough first 48 hours due to stress on my band and dehydration...everyone is different though.

my plastic surgoen prefers you have fluid removed since it is important to eat lots of protein post of for healing!  I think it depends on how much you PS knows about the band.....
I always struggle after my plastics eating even without fluid...cause my band is soooo tight!
Good Luck

I haven't had a BA, but I've had a few surgeries since being banded (gallbladder removal, c-section, etc) I never had any fluid taken out.  If your band is so tight that you can't swallow pills you will need to get an unfill or ask for a liquid painkiller.  I would talk to both your plastic surgeon and your WLS surgeon.
