Well I'm officially in SWELL HELL. I was so fortunate the first week that I very little swelling but as of last Tuesday (beginning of week 2) I started swelling and it has gotten worse through the week. The Dr assures me it's normal swelling and not a Seroma but I didn't think to ask him what to do to 1) prevent it from getting worse and 2) help whats there.

Its not as bad as some have described (I don't look prego and I can still get my binder on)

What did your Dr say would help it? Resting? Moving? Does the Bromeline (sp??) really help? It does not seem to be worse at any given time during the day/night.

I'm trying to drink more water and I'm wearing my binder night and day. I'm also watching my salt intake but I have had some. (like on my eggs and lite popcorn)

Any help would be appreciated.

Edited after I read Jodi's response in another post advising a mix of rest and movement seems to help. I'll continue to do that and I'm on my 2nd day staying in out of the Alabama heat and humidity!!

Girl I'm right there with you!  They removed 10 pounds and I've yet to see that on scale!  I'll be 2 weeks on Tuesday and nothing has changed.  I just feel like a stuffed sausage all the time!  LOL  Gosh I was hoping I'd turn the corner at 4 weeks, but doesn't sound like it's gonna happen.  I wish I had an answer for you but just wanted to let you know you aren't alone!

Thanks Melissa,

I guess it's true, misery loves company because it does make me feel better to know I'm not the only one. I guess since I had very little swelling week 1 I thought I'd escaped it. (cruel joke! HA)

And the stuffed sausage thing is a comical but accurate description! I love it!

We'll hang in there together and keep thinking about the end results and not the sausage feeling. haha

Thanks!

Patience? Did you say Patience?? I know I need more of that for sure! LOL

I know I just have to ride it out. I too am craving water, the more I drink the more I want but I really have not been drinking enough, especially considering the heat.

Today my goal is to get in a minimum of 64 oz. I've also switched back to my bulky velcro binder to see if that will help any. The Assets garment is tight but a different type of compression than the original binder.

My husband is back in town so I'll get him to take new pics later today.

Yes we're tough gals who are hanging tough and we will beat this and be skinny afterwards!!!  WoooHooo!

Can't tell you how much this forum has meant to me through this journey!!!!!!!

Don't get frustrated.....it will get better!!  I swelled for many months post op with my LBL.......I am extra juicy though!!
I am 6 weeks post op from an inner thigh lift and mons lift and still have a drain attached...that is putting out over 200 cc a day!!
It took me about 10 months to get the true look from my LBL and it was well worth the wait!!
Good Luck

Jan,
Thanks for the encouraging words! I do need to be more patient! And wow...6 weeks and you still have a drain? Bless you! I should not complain about a little swelling! Best of luck getting that out soon!

Are you keeping your legs elevated well above your hips? Put pillows under your knees and at your ankles, that does help with over all body swelling. Keep up the good work it is all well worth it in the end
