Surgery Update - Finally

Hi to all my special friends!

I am finally at the computer . It's down in basement and just didn't have strength.

As many of you know, I had LBL and breast lift revision. om 6/17. All in all, I am doing better now.

Day of Surgery -  woke up in recovery and sort of remember people talking to me. The jist was that they were waiting for my hospital room to be ready. In my stuper, I tried to explain that I was to be transported  to prepaid nursing home by prepaid ambulence.  Next thing I knew I was sent to hosp room at 11:30pm. LESSON LEARNED - If at all all possible, try to have someone with you for surgery to express your wishes etc. Not good to go alone.

Thursday- lots of pain. Surgeon requested I stay. Wanted to monitor vitals. Not out of bed yet. By that Thursday evening, I became extremely anemic and required blood transfusions throughout the night. LESSON: try to go into this stress free and strong. Be as sure as you can that you are ready!

Friday  - lots of pain .   Walked to strecher to get Venous Doppler  .- yeah no blood clots Surgeon found necrosis forming right above incision in pubic area. It later traveled straight up to belly button.  Apply special cream 2x's daily. LESSON: while this is very rare, it can happen if there isn't enough skin to join at the incision. Inquire about necrosis in in preop appts.

Saturday  - home by 12 noon. Felt good to see my puppies.

Sunday - Friday - Been to doc 3x's this week. Necrosis is getting better. 2 drains out on Weds.and 1 drain fell out on Thursday by itself...ew. Still have 1 more drain till Tuesday. I have been running temps from 100.7 - 102. The temps take alot out of me. That's why I could not email. LESSON:  Drain removal is fabulous and freeing!

I believe staying in the hospital 3 nights was the best thing in the end. But, now I have the worry of how to pay for the 3 nights. Not sure what the bill is but I just need to concentrate on getting strong first.

OVERALL LESSON: I received all of your welll wishes and attempts to follow up on me. I love you all and am so grateful for all of you.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs, Pat

Hey surgery buddy!  Glad to hear you're home finally and doing well.  I'm also glad you did get to stay at the hospital for the extra help.  It really makes a difference.  The first few days are the toughest and I don't know how anyone could do it alone.  My surgery was on 6/16 and I'm feeling so much better now.  You'll have to read my post about my ER trip.  Not fun but it's all over now!  That pain is something isn't it?  My pain is pretty much gone now and I'm just sore.  I had my first real sneeze on Monday and that was like OUCH.  I somehow managed to hold them in until then for the most part up until that one time.  I also am finally able to cough a little better without pain which is good.   We're making progress!

Wow..I am so sorry you have had such a rough start.  I hope that things only get better for you.  Remember to get in as much fluids and protein that you can to get your body healing faster.

Hi Friend!

I am sorry you had a rought beginning but sounds like things are ironed out now.  Glad you spend some time in an acute care facility, sounds like you needed as MOST of us do!

You will be so glad once you are healed you ddi this and don't worry about the bills at this point, everything works itself out.  I am glad you shared what you learned (maybe the hard way) by not telling others.. it helps educate those that are contemplating doing this alone.

Hopefully u are doing good now, updated us when u can, you hae been in my thoughts big time.

So glad you are posting and doing ok.
Hugs, Melissa
