Ins. is covering TT and Hernia
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that I just got approval from my insurance co. today saying that they have not only approved the hernia repair but have also approved TT.
They first denied the TT and said that I could appeal. I then called the insurance co. several times to find out exactly what they needed in order to overturn the denial. I then got a letter from my primary doc saying that he has treated me for 4 years for a rash. The regular surgeon also stated that I just had too much skin to heal nicely from the hernia repair. (I must say, I probably have one of the largest hernias out there, which is very painful and bothersome). Once I gave them what they wanted, they approved it.
The only question left was regarding the muscle tightening, but I just spoke with the plastic surgeon's office today and they spoke with the plastic surgeon and he said that he would make sure that it was also done. From what I understand insurance usually doesn't pay for the muscle tightening. I wanted a quote and was going to self pay that part, if necessary, but he said, "not a problem, don't worry about it".
The thought of another surgery really scares me, but at least I now have something to look forward to when I recover.
I just wanted to be encouraging and say that it is possible to get insurance to pay - you just have to be very persistent, make a lot of phone calls, be as polite as possible, and PRAY!
Good Luck. I'll be back after surgery, I'm sure with a lot of questions. My surgery is scheduled for July 8th.
