question about hair and tt

When I had my gastric bypass I did lose hair.  My question is after you had a tt did anyone lose hair?  I really hope not, mine is now coming in, and I would hate to lose more.

Well, I'm only a week post-op TT - but I wouldn't think there would be an issue with hair just because of the surgery.  If you were having problems getting in protein or not taking vitamins - then you might have a problem.  That reminds me that I haven't been taking my vitamins!  Gahh!  Anyway, good luck!

Any surgical procedure or even labor can put stress on the body and lead to hair loss. With gastric bypass we are limiting our caloric intake and protein levels so I am sure there is a greater chance for hair loss with those procedures or any weight loss procedure for that matter b/c of the extreme caloric defecit.. but anesthesia in itself can cause this.  Fingers crossed it won't to either of us! :-)

I lost lots of hair when i lost my weight but I started to use follicure shampoo i got at sally's beauty supply and wow my hair is just comming thicker than ever,I guess i had some female pattern balding going on as well.
When i had the surgery i did not lose hair as i was taking multi vit and kepr up the protien and what ever  u do do not forget the extra vit c,

I've been taking a biotin vitamin every day since my GBP... My hair looks awesome.

I'm almost two years postop from my LBL and I didn't lose any hair.  Lost about a third of my hair with my WLS.

I think the anesthesia makes you lose a little hair a couple weeks post-op, but nothing like RNY patients do at 3--6 months post op.

Hi Erica...I had a TT four weeks ago today. I have Not had a hair loss problem at all. It was suggested that those that have had gastric by pass surgery take "biotin". It's over the counter and reasonable at Walmart. Good luck to ya. They say your hair comes back.Like the previous responder suggests, make sure you're taking your vitamins. Best wishes
