There seem to be a wide range of experiences.  Some folks say they had virtually no pain with their TTs.  That is hard for me to imagine, as I had excrutiating pain the first time I tried to get out of bed.  Now, before you run screaming from your chair and decide to just live with your panniculus, HA!, let me say that I seem to have been the worst extreme.  And even as I lay on the side of the bed in the worst pain I've ever had, I said to myself, "I don't care how much this hurts; I would never in a million years want that big ol' flab bag back on my belly."  I had a LOT of muscle-tightening work done, which is where the pain comes in, too.  But every time I got up, the pain was less, and I never regretted the surgery for one second!!  By the end of that day, the pain was only moderate, and by the time I went home the next day, it just felt like I'd done a zillion sit-ups.  Go for it!  Pain, if you have much, is so short-lived; the relief of having that belly gone is for the rest of your life!  Best wishes :-)

I too had bypass almost three years ago.  Tomorrow, I will be one week post-op from my tummy tuck.  I experienced excruciating pain with the bypass and had virtually none with the TT as compared to that.  I've been sore - nothing too painful - just feels like I've done a thousand sit-ups.  The only thing that actually hurts is the drain sites.  The incision line feels like someone shot me up with novacaine.  I'm so numb there, I can't feel anything!  Good luck with your TT - I'm sure you will be as happy and as thrilled as the rest of us are!

Hi
I had a TT and Hysterectomy together on Dec 12th, I really wasn't in pain it was discomfort, I only had pain meds when I first came out of surgery. In fact I was done on a Friday was suppossed to stay in the hospital until Tuesday because of the hysterectomy but I was doing so well that they let me out on Sunday.
With both surgeries the plastics and the gastric bypass I found that the more I walked the better I felt. Taking Narcotics for pain actually made me feel worse cause they made me tired & woozy and I feel that the more you move & walk the better you will feel

I had VSG, so I considered that pain very minimal, I did have a problem with my shoulder from the gas. With my extended TT, I had a lot of muscle repair and a baseball size umbilical hernia, but even at that, I didn't have TOO much pain. I originally thought that the pain would be excruciating for at least 10 days, but I thought, well, I guess I can deal with it for that long. But, it wasn't that bad. My DH happened to be with my 24/7 for the first two weeks, it was pretty hard getting up & down due to using stomach muscles for that. I did take Vicodin on a regular schedule, don't let the pain get ahead of you. I had a bad constipation problem, so make sure to take stool softeners, Colace, so you don't have that problem. I have seen posts on here that some people rent lift chairs to assist getting up & down. The drains are annoying, I had mine in for 4 weeks, but if they are removed too early, I've seen posts with problems. Keep your drain lines stripped!! That is very important for drainage!! You will love your surgery!!!!!!!!!!  Best of luck!!
