Hey guys!  I'm going in at 5am for my tt.  Well, panni removal, I should say.  I'm not sure those are quite the same.  Anyway, I've been going through a lot lately (husband and I split up last week) and I'm worried about my recovery.  I'm hoping it's not going to be as bad as I anticipate or as bad as the pain after the bypass.  What can y'all tell me about the recovery?  Also, did anyone get so nervous before hand that they just wanted to back out?  That's where I'm at right now, but I know I'll be so mad at myself if I don't go through with it...

Oh Jessica - it's a VERY important difference!  Are you having a panniculetomy OR tummy tuck?

The results are light years different........

Just a panniculetomy.  The only place I have extra skin is below my belly button.  My doc says I have just enough extra skin above my belly button to pull down and make flat.  He's also doing muscle repair.  I will only be cut hip bone to hip bone.  No anchor cut.

Oh!   that's a mini TT!  Gotcha!  Sorry, I'm slow - you have to spell things out for me...... LOL!!!

Good luck to you!  It's very exciting - PLEASE remember to take it easy and don't let your body and the drugs fool you into thinking you're more recovered than you are...... I have, umm.... 'friends' who have made that mistake......

Jessica,

Good luck.  Make sure to take it easy and take your pain meds as directed the first few days it will make a world of difference, i.e., if it says 1 -2 every 3-4 hours, take them every 3-4 hours.  You want to stay ahead of the pain.

I had a TT with BL/BA on January 16th and while the pain was manageable, the feeling of discomfort was high.  I stayed home from work for 3 weeks and yes I was very nervous till they wheeled me back, but it was the BEST thing, other than bypass surgery that I've ever done for myself.

Keep us updated on your progress.

Jessica,
First of all I'm sorry you're going through a split with your husband. I hope things work out for the best, however  it turns out.
Secondly, best of luck on your surgery. I go in Wednesday for the panni and TT. I've heard the pain and discomfort is much worse than my lap-band surgery (which was almost no pain and more sore than anything else) so I'm prepared to be downing those pain pills for the first few days.
Please let us know how you do!

Thanks everyone!  I'm trying to be optimistic.  I'm going to rest as much as I can.  I'm just worried about getting depressed while I'm recovering.  I have the history and then with everything that is going on right now...being cooped up in the house isn't going to help anything.  I'm going to be staying with my aunt for the first week and probably won't try to navigate her steps to use her computer.  I'll post as soon as I have internet access.  Thanks again, and say a prayer for me!

Hi!
First let me say I'm sorry you are having to deal with so much at this time.  I hope the situation with your husband works out in a way that is best for you.

You are one beautiful woman!  Hold you head high!!

So far as getting cold feet......I know that feeling.  The day I booked my Lower Body surgery I started freaking out and having doubts......my surgery isn't till July 30th so that's a long time to have cold feet.  I'm better right now but am sure it will get me again a few days before surgery.

Anyhow, I'm sure you will do fine!  I'm glad you'll be with family during recovery.

Please post when you can to give us an update.
Will be thinking of you and sending you well wishes for a great surgery and speedy recovery.

I think you will do great, and I will send prayers for speedy healing your way. You do have a lot on your plate right now, just know it will all work out for the best. You may want to check to see if your insurance offers visiting nurses at home. After the surgery, let the hospital know about your recovery concerns and ask if they can help you explore this option. All the best to you
