Stupid Question but will I get bigger?!

I have heard some ladies on here mention that after their full tt that when the skin was stretched tight that their pant size went up, not just from swelling but actually increased. I am now a zero or occasional 2 so I wouldn't mind going up one size but I just wondered if that tends to happen with wls patients. Right now my skin is so thin and loose that it just conforms in my pants but will it change after the surgery? Any feedback is appreciated.

Swollen initially, then size decreased.  Don't see how it could get larger when skin is removed.  I went down in pant sizes- maybe 2 or 3? Depends.

I had the same thing with the skin conforming. I could fit in size 1 miss jeans but normally wore 4-5 juniors most of the time. Now I can't fit in the size one even when the swelling is down. I now have a pudge rounded lower part of my tummy that's firm and smooth but also projects out more than the loose skin that I could mush around. (Think someone with a totally flat stomach that is a couple months preggo and has that slight smooth pooch - that's what it's like.). So I honestly think I'm going to be stuck at size 4 (5 juniors) now after surgery.  Still not too bad, I supposed.

Hi Cassie -

I am 5 weeks out and have that "ledge" over my incision otherwise I do not appear swollen.  I had a lot of loose skin so I of course will go down some in size but realize that I have this harder area below my belly button that sticks slightly out.  I figured it was swelling, does it not go down?  I can feel the swelling deep under my incisions when I take the garment off and shower but goes down once I put the garment back on.  Tell me that goes away eventually!

I had LBL and arms done on 4/8/09 and I went from a 12-14 (had a large pannus) to a size 8 so I didn't go up at all. Debi

I was a size 4 preop and no my jeans are too big in the stomach and butt... wont' know until all the swelling goes down but one thing I do notice is how much HIGHER my waist is now... that is much smaller 28.5 inches but where most pants lie is more along what is the hips now.. that measures 35ish at the largest point but 33 at the point where most pants would lie.. not sure how that works since I was a 4 preop.. my body is so different anatomically now.  Weird.  But I am only 5 weeks out so hard to say.

Thank you all for your replys. I'm not overly concerned about going up in size but I would prefer to stay in the 0-2 range if possible... Kim

My pant size went up because my waist increased. I have a lot of trouble with pants because my waist and hips are the same size. Anything that fits in the waist is too big in the hips, and I have trouble with my pants sliding down. I have finally resorted to wearing dresses a lot.

Thanks Lynne, I think it was a post made by you that my brain was thinking of when I wrote this thread. I remembered the difficulty you had with the waist to hips ratio. Did you have the anchor incision. None of the surgeons I saw wanted to do it on me but I am still concerned about the results w/out it... Thanks, Kim
