Saline vs. silicone...???? I have a date!! June 23rd!!!

Okay, my consult went soooooo well!!!! I LOVE the surgeon!!! My worry was whether I would need a lift or not.  The surgeon spent 2 hours going over my options and questions (free consult)!!! Wow! He was awesome!! Anyway, he doesn't think my breast are in bad condition and feels BA would be the perfect solution for my lack of upper tissue. I'm going for a very moderate size.

Here is my worry...

1.Saline or Silicone? I LOVE the feel of silicone and my doctor thinks silicone would look more natural on me since I don't have as much tissue to hide it.
If you have implants what do you have and why did you choose it?

2. I have racked my brain trying to figure out the best time to schedule it. There was always a major complication with dates so....I had to schedule it 17 days before my beach vacation. My doctor said I MUST take it easy and let everyone do everything for me (talk about a nice relaxing vacation). For those who just had BA, do you think 17 days out is crazy to go on vacation? I cannot get my money back (condo). Also, I cannot push the BA further because I have to go back to work. I will be expected to lift heavy things the first week back. What do you think? Am I crazy?

I've had both saline and silicone and I prefer silicone.  They are more natural looking and feeling and don't feel as heavy as saline, IMO.

I would probably take the vacation at 17 days post op as long as the PS approved but I would NOT lift anything heavy for at least 6 weeks.

Glad to hear your consult went well and you feel good about your surgeon.  That is SO important!

Best wishes,
Kim J.

I had silicone under the muscle on 3/30. I took 2 weeks off and was back to lifting heavy things by the 4 week mark.

I chose silicone because I didn't have any tissue left either. I went from a 34A to a 34C using a 200cc implant and I'm totally thrilled. My PS said I had to go under the muscle because it would be obvious that I had an implant if I went on top. They feel real, they move like real ones.

17 days should be plenty of time, don't cancel the vacation. If you should have complications they will most likely have popped up before then and you can cancel then if you have to.

Wow! that is quick!
I dont have an answer about silicone/saline. I think im going to go with Saline.
what did your cost end up being?
I have to do a lift with aug to get what i want. I can do just a lift but will be a small C and I am used to being bigger, plus I want that top fullness. So I am doing lift with small implant, my cost is 6500 for the whole thing, including follow ups, surgical suite and anesthesia (sorry if sic).
I havent schedule yet because I am not sure when I want to take the time off. My dr is booked all of June already :(.
I think you will be fine. My dr said I would be able to go back to work after 3-4 days (desk job).

Yes, it was quick. I just fell in the love with this surgeon and couldn't imagine a better fit. I felt like he was reading my mind. He spent so much time and he made me feel so comfortable. My band surgeon recommended him and I love him as well.

I'm in Dallas and ps is very expensive here. My BA with silicone will be 5,850. This price includes everything except my prescriptions, which ins. will cover.

My schedule and his schedule were booked solids. However, the one week I had free, he had one opening left. I grabbed it up!!! I know it's soon, but everything is coming together beautifully. They told me scheduling the mammogram would be my biggest hurdle. I called that day to see and they just had a women cancel (booked solid too). Can you believe it? I'm thrilled!!! I go in tomorrow for my test.

Best wishes to you. Please keep me posted!!

Awesome!!!
Hubby and I are still discussing mine. 65 is more than we had planned on. We can still do it, i just m not sure about it. Like you, i have a pretty big guilt factor regarding this. 6500 for me to feel good about my tatas? anyways, as soo as we decide i am going to book it for as soon as possible. I was going to wait for a holiday weekend but im not going to, just gonna go for it :)
Im excited for you!!!!

I chose silicone because I had so little breast tissue left.  Also, I liked the feel of the silicone.  They were more expensive though.

As for going to the beach in just 17 days after surgery - I would have been miserable.  I'm four weeks out and the thought of sand rubbing against my incisions makes me cringe.  I hope things go well for you.  By the way, what price did he quote you?

Thanks for the honest advice. I appreciate it. Do you mind me asking where your incision site is? Mine will be at the fade side of the airolia (sp). My surgeon said this is the most hidden place and it is helpful down the road, if I ever wanted to do a lift.

I'm a beach watcher. I won't be in the water swimming. I like to put my feet in, but that is the extent of my "swimming". I will probably get a good beach lounger and umbrella and read my summer books.

I'm in Dallas and it's one of the most expensive ps cities (large demand in Dallas). My quote was 5,850 for BA with silicone. This covers everything but the prescriptions.

Thanks again for the advice!
