Do most surgeons offer free consult?

Most surgeons I've spoken with charges a fee but then applies it to the surgery cost if you go with them (so in effect if you go with them, the consult is free).  But usually the fee has been from $50-$150.

I paid  between $80 - $100 for my PS consults and about $50 for my consults at 2 PS residency programs, so none of mine were free.

Most good surgeons won't charge you for the consultation, it is really in their best interest to have you in for the discussion.  When I went in for mine, I was so won over by the doctor, I booked immediately with him....
Make sure you also check out the doctor's website for info so you are prepared before you even go in...
