P.S.on a form of Medicaid????

Hi. I am a poor person who lives in NJ, across form the Philadelphia Pa area. My insurance is a form of HMO Medicaid called Horizon NJ Health. I had VSG approved on first letter and am now starting my research on plastics. I am pretty sure they will do "reconstructive" surgery.  I hope to have my arm lift with breast augmentation (implants) and a lower body lift with anchor cut. My stomach is a mess, I had a old fashioned C-Section 28 years ago and it runs from my naval to my public hair and my stomach looks like it has two halves, kind of like a butt!  Needless to say I get rashes, pimples in places I should not get them (in the public hair!) Not trying to be gross. The same happens to my upper arms. How realistic am I in hoping I can get it done with this insurance. If not possible, how could I find a way to pay for these procedures?

You will likely be able to get a panniculectomy approved (removal of excess skin on your stomach) due to rashes, but you should NOT count on getting your arms or breasts done or a full lower body lift.

I agree with the other post, you may be able to get a panniculectomy and you might be able to get a breast reduction or lift.  You need to see your PCP about getting a referral and talk to your insurance provider about which plastic surgeons are in network for your plan.  However, just because a PS is in network with your plan it does not mean he will accept your insurance for these procedures.  But remember many insurances do not cover these surgeries.  You might also look up your provider on line to find the policy on plastics.  If you find that your insurance will not cover you might look into self pay through one of the resident training programs.Red

Well I guess I am out of  luck then. I know my surgeon has a person he refers to for follow up of bariatric surgery and I have started my documentation of rashes and such. If self pay were a possibility I would go that route for sure, but I live on disability from SSN  As for the arms, I have 'issues" with them also, rashes and pimples etc...

You will not know for sure until a PS puts in a request for pre-certification.  Also about the resident training programs.  Many are affilitated with publicly funded hospitals consequently they may take your insurance.  Talk to your PCP about the referral and then at least try to get the pre-cert.  the worse that could happen is that the request is denied -- the best is that you will find the procedures are covered.  Good luck, I hope you find that the surgeries are covered.  Even if only the panniculectomy is covered you will feel and look so much better having the skin on the middle gone.

Jodi, I tried you r plan and while it brought up results, it simply had those words in the sentences, but not actually anything to do with my question.
