Or is that a big no-no?

I am drinking straight up water by the liters and peeing like mad but I'm so swollen even more so than yesterday and I thought yesterday I was going to die.

I know I keep whining but this is bad, so bad!

I MY DS!!!

Sorry, I thought of this, too; but after research decided it was a no-no & wouldn't help anyway.

No you shouldn't.  Also, drinking water didn't help me nor did the Bromelain or Arnica.   What finally helped me after 7 week of swelling (swelling so bad I couldn't even wear flip flops) was Celebrex.   It is an NSAID but some surgeons feel it is safe.  I don't know if this is a coincidence but once I started taking 200mg in the morning and at night my swelling was gone 4 days later.

I would not advise taking a water pill especially if you normally do not take them.  It will only be a temporary water loss if you do........it will come back within the day or so that you stop taking them.

When my swelling was driving me up the wall I decided to lay down and elevate the swollen limbs for a day or two. I also found taking an ibuprofen each day (mid day) seemed to help.......it is an anti-inflammatory.  I believe it helped.

Of course keeping the compression garment on helps.

Make sure you are not eating hidden salt/sodium.  It's in just about every canned food, prepared food, frozen food.

I know the swelling can drive you nuts.....it did me but then suddenly it started to dissipate...for me it seemed to get worse right before it started to get better.

Best wishes to you!!

A water pill will, only eliminate water, but much of the swelling is inflammation, not excess water... so taking a water pill will generally not help the swelling and may dehydrate you.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
