That burning feeling is the nerves starting to reconnect.  It can last a couple weeks but does get easier.  Massaging helps.

I had a br 2/11.  I referred to the "itchy-burnies" which bothered me mostly at bedtime.  What helped was pain reliever.  Then when I was allowed to I used a moisturizing cream with some vitamin E which I added.  A gentle massage also gave some temp relief & helped with the overall swelling.  My surgeon recommended using a cream but said he thought that it was the actual massaging which helped the healing process.

It gets better.  I rarely have any problems now.  There still is some swelling & I get mildly sharp, shooting pains which only last a second or two.  They keep getting rarer.  As another said, it's a good sign as the nerves are regenerating.

I really didn't start feeling decent until week 6.
