I am about 4.5 months post TT and want to know if it's ok for me to start yoga classes again. My dr told me I could start back on ab work after 3 months but it is still a little tender when trying that, but is yoga ok? I really want to get back to my yoga so please let me know.

Thanks

After 8 wks. my surgeon gave me the go-ahead for "anything."  So I have begun short amounts of yoga & bike riding.  No problem.  had a br & tt.

I was back in yoga within about 4 weeks post LBL - two weeks post brachiplasty - 3 weeks post medial thigh lift.....each surgery required that I modify poses to accomodate healing - but the whole point to yoga is to learn to read your body.   While you use your core in almost all yoga poses - there are only a few (boat and plank poses) that require real ab tension  - so I can't imagine how it would be anything but good for you.   I started to do serious core work again at about 8 weeks out post LBL - tons of crunches etc.........and I did learn - and still have to - carefully warm up my whole abdomen with a series of ball crunches - I do about 100 of them before any workout to warm up and loosen them - even now 7 months out - they're tight.    The hardest thing about recovering from plastics was not being able to work out!    Susan

Hi Susan,

Thanks so much for letting me know.  I will give it a try then. The thing is I am still sore when I try any ab work, even getting up from a lying down position is sore, but I have to listen to my body and will modify any strenuous ab moves in yoga. Of course Yoga is so great for us, especially for the mind.

Take care
