OTC meds and surgery

Hey guys!  I am curious - what things did your doc tell you to stop taking before your surgery?

I got a list from my doc and it's pretty much everything except my multi vitamins.  I do take OTC sleep aids - those aren't on his list NOT to take - BUT I am wondering if anybody else had to cut off everything before surgery too.  

I was told to stop taking all of my vitamin supplements, especially my vit D, ibuprofen. Also some of my prescription meds such as metformin (which I always stop taking a couple of weks before surgery).

I was told to stop taking all herbal meds, aspirin, NSAIDS( which we don't take anyway) and basically any OTC drugs for 10 days pre-op. I could take  my multi vits & iron.
 The herbal drugs are not approved by the FDA and it has something to do with anesthesia & recovery

thanks!  I got a sheet with a list from my doc - I stopped all my herbals - just have the OTC sleep aid left.  I will stop that 10 days prior just to be on the safe side.
