I've notice that some of us say "eat fresh pineapple".  What are its benifits post-op?  I'm thinking that it helps with swelling?

You have thought absolutely right.  Eating fresh pineapple does help with the swelling.  There are tablets that are sold in the health food stores, Bromelin, which contain the same type of extract that reduces swelling.  But I like eating the pineapple as well.  Good luck to you!!

Pineapple helps with swelling.  It is also a digestive.  So if you eat it with a meal or when you've recently had a meal, that's where it will go- to help the digestive process.

Does Pineapple juice have the same effect as fresh pineapples?

The best source is a supplement.  Otherwise, you have to eat a LOT of pineapple.  You could also drink the juice but it's high in calories & very acidic. Canned is not as good as it's been heat treated.
It also is a blood thinner so do not take if you're currently taking other thinners or prior to surgery.
