Care after LBL
No way I could have done the first week by myself. At day 4 I was able to VERY SLOWLY and HOLDING ON TO SOMETHING walk to the bathroom by myself. Still nearly fainted (low red blood count) at day 6 though walking back from the toilet.
Starting day 3 or so - I was totally fine with the nurse just checking in every couple hours - give me my meds, help me to the toilet, get my drinks and food, etc.
Went home with just overprotective significant other at day 8. I fainted in the shower (sitting on a stool) at 2 weeks out. Just a thought. (Got put back on overprotective mode - LOL). Still have boyfriend within shouting distance whenever I take a shower now.
Off of pain pills except at night since about 2 weeks out. I use lots of ice packs - those are a life saver.
Surgery was April 2nd. At just over three weeks out (April 27), I have started back to work 1/2 days and while 1/2 days isn't a problem, I'm exhausted by the time I get home at lunch and have to take a nap. I wear flip flops and sweat pants to work - can't wear anything else right now. I plan on starting full days May 11th.
Hope this helps,
Cass
