With only one week to go I decided to post my preop plastic pictures .  I know it has been helpful for me to see everyone else's preop photos and postop ones as well.  So I bit the bullet and did it tonight.   You must be my friend to see them however, ask me to add you if you aren't my friend and would like to see them.  I would be glad to do this as many of you did this for me and I thank you for that!  I really do hope my LBL will get rid of a lot of that flubber

Edited to add: I have a genius of a friend (thank you Shira!) who covered my girl parts with ahem... a wrinkled sharpai dog.. tell me that isn't clever!   Thanks Shira, you are the best!

Hugs, Melissa

Wow...I can just see how great your going to look and feel! I am not at goal, but have been at a steady weiht for about 1.5 years, so plastics can be done now. I would however like to lose a bit more, but I am not going to wait for that as it might never come.
Best of luck to you!

Thanks so much MJ.  I still can't believe I posted these.. they are something.

I would not worry if you are not at goal, many have had this surgery not at goal and are loving their results.  Even if we don't lose it 100% doesn't mean we don't have skin issues that needs addressed.  Sometimes people need to have this surgery to have that last bit of weight off or to even kick start their weightloss again.  I have seen that happen a lot of times.  Good luck to you with everything!!!

MJ,
I just had panni with fleur-de-lis 2 weeks ago. Feel free to look at my before and after pics on my profile, anyone can see them.  I had my surgery done at Dartmouth Hitch**** in NH.  Same hospital where I had my GB done.

I have my preop pics and my 1 wk pics up so far, went to take my 2 wk pics last night and the battery was dead so it's charging right now and I should be able to get them done tonight.

In my 1 wk pics I am very swollen and the incisions look ugly because there is so much dried blood trapped under the skin glue they used to keep me together.  Now, most of that has come off and the difference is amazing.

I'll post on the msg board once my 2 wk pics are up.

I was really nervous also but am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I did this, especially the fleur de lis.

Take care and be sure to take your before pics!  You won't believe the difference.

Wow! great job!  And we almost have the same body! lol Now I am getting excited!  You must feel good, I can just imagine.  How was it pain wise? Hard to get up? sleeping in your own bed?  Lots of questions, so feel free to think I am a pain and not answer. I am having surgery 5/8/09 at Newton Wellesley Hospital in the same OR I work in...lol how strange is that!
I can just hope for no pics posted from the people I work with ...lol thank goodness for HIPPA.

Thank so much!

Hugs, MJ

For me, the pain was not bad.  I had certainly anticipated that it was going to be awful.  Although I hear that if you have the muscles done it is much worse so maybe that is why I was lucky enough to not be in a lot of pain.

I have had previous surgeries and recovered well from those also, so I was hopeful I would have the same experience with this one.  So far, its going good.

I am allergic to the good pain meds like morphine, perk, codeine, vicodin etc so in the hospital I was just taking demerol and switched over to tylenol before I even left the hospital.  Once I was home I just took the demerol at night so I could sleep comfortably but even only did that for about 4 nights I think, started having really bizarre dreams that weren't letting me sleep well so decided to stop taking the demerol.  Had one night where it was tough to sleep and then seemed to be able to get back on track.

I only had 2 drains and they were out in a week, I felt alot more human once those were out.

Slept in the recliner for 4 or 5 days then up to my own bed, which was SO wonderful to get into my own bed.  Getting up and down took time, you have to use your arms and elbows alot and even once you are up you have to walk a little hunched over which made my back hurt some.

I'm an open book, so feel free to email me anytime with questions.  NWH is an excellent hospital, but of course you know that since you work there.  My mother worked there many many moons ago.  I grew up in Natick just down the road!
