Interesting.. I thought about doing this myself.. I am afraid I will starve haha... Former foodie still loves her food LOL... I will consider doing this but folks are coming up for surgery the day before and I know they will wanna go for dinner.. maybe I will just do some soup or something.

Thanks so much!!! I love your humor btw.. u crack me up!! Keep it coming!  Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!!! I am excited for you and yes waiting is hard and then its like... BAM.. its in one week! WHAT?! Where did the time go.. freak out point now lol.

Oh girl.. you make me laugh so hard.  That is priceless!  Sounds like your DH has the same sense of humor.  My husband and I are always doing something crazy ourselves, sure keeps the relationship interesting :)  Good luck with everything, i can imagine being overseas it is harder to get things in order.. you are going to do great though!

My surgeon didn't request any bowel prep but I did OK it with him to take MOM the day before my surgery and I was glad because I was afraid the pain meds would constipate me even more if I didn't take something.

Only 8 more days Melissa, it'll be here before you know it. I'm going back to work on the 27th, almost 3 weeks post op. I finally got the last 4 drains out today and he said I can bathe/shower tomorrow. I could have went back this week but didn't want to until I could shower first. Good luck with your surgery you're in my thoughts and prayers. Debi

Great to know thanks Debi.  Are you still feel good?  You sound great!

I know - one week till the big day! I am trying to wean myself off caffiene (my bad vice, I know).  I have protein coffee every morning and I look forward to it.  I also have some in my cafe caramel shakes by EAS and usually have one of those a day too.  I am not to have caffiene for a week postop, did your surgeon say the same?

I will really hate not showering bathing until the drains come out, how has that been for you?  I hope i only have them in a couple weeks (fingers crossed!)

Thanks again for all your expertise and info!!

I wasn't allowed caffine or any type of herbs either. I don't drink caffine but have been drinking a hot apple cinnamon tea almost every morning and couldn't have it for 2 weeks before and 1 week after. I really missed it because that's how I have a bowel movement daily.

I got the last 4 drains out yesterday and have felt weak ever since. One of the drain holes in my mons is red and hard today so I think I might have an infection so the surgeon called me another antibiotic in to take. I have felt so good until yesterday I hope this is only
temporary.

I took a nice long hot shower this morning and it felt like heaven. I was sponge bathing but that's definately not the same as showering. I did go out to several stores during that time but I always washed my hair and blow dried it so I didn't fell too dirty.

Keep me posted on your surgery, I hope you have a safe surgery and speedy recovery. Debi

there was no bowel prep required, but I did one.  A bottle of mag citrate.  I know what I am like, and I wanted to make sure I was not dealing with extra bathroom issues straight after surgery.  I asked my PS about it and he said that it was ok.

I may just do some clear liquids the day before.  I tend to not have problems with constipation but realize with pain meds this could be a real issue postop that many do have.. yuck.  Thanks for sharing what you did personally!
