PLEASE CAN ANYONE TELL ME OF PLASTIC SURGEONS THAT TAKE MEDICADE IN NORTH CAROLINA ? SHE DID NOT HAVE WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY AND SHE HAS ELEPHANTITIUS ON ARMS T HAT LOOK LIKE SHE DID DOC SAYS TO GET IT OFF AND NC WONT DO PLASTIC SURGERY SHE IS TOLD BUT SOME PLASTIC SURGEONS DO SHE IS IN ROBBINS ( MORES COUNTY)

I would have her call Medicare and see if they have a list of PS's that are on their approved provider list.  Otherwise, she should ask medicare what the procedure would be for getting the surgery approved - she might have to self pay up front and then submit to Medicare for reimbursement but she will definitely want to find out exactly how much Medicare would reimburse vs. how much the Dr. and Hospital actually charge.

Her PCP should be able to help her find a PS that will work with her insurance.  She may be denied at first but she should file an appeal.  It sounds as if this is certainly medically necessary and not cosmetic.  Has she checked into any of the Medical School programs?  Many times those surgeons and hospitals work with a wide variety of insurances.
