ummm, tomorrow
Tomorrow is my surgery day!! I am having a fleur de lis TT w/Muscle Repari, Medial Thigh Lift, Ventral Hernia Repair
My time line for insurance was:
Tuesday January 27 - Consult
Thursday January 29 - Letter sent to insurance
Tuesday February 19 - Letter of APPROVAL
I could have had surgery well before now, but this worked with a few other things going on for me. I have had a few, ok, a lot of freakouts lately, but today I am feeling very grateful for a few things..
my insurance is covering this for me
lyssa_ree who posts here, for being an amazing cheerleader for the surgery and our surgeon
everyone here for sharing your photos and stories. You will never know how much it has helped
my surgeon and his nurse...amazing. I don't think there is anything the nurse hasn't seen or heard
I really am grateful and can't wait to paid it forward to others going through this process

Congratulations! I just had my fleur de lis tt 9 days ago, no muscle repair or anything else. That is awesome that your insurance is covering the thigh lift!
I was absolutely freaking out for a good week before my surgery. I was clenching my jaw subconciously so badly that I ended up inflaming my jaw on the right side and it made me feel like I had an ear infection! The pain was awful. Couldn't open my mouth all the way or chew which was kinda good because at least I couldn't stress eat!
Even the day of the hospital while my husband and I were standing at the registration area, I asked him "do you think I'm making a mistake?" To which he answered with a resounding NO why would you say that? I'm so grateful for having him help me along in this process.
Now I hear recovery after tt w/muscle repair is harder but for me I can tell you that my drains were out in 7 days - everyone is different - and I left the hospital only taking tylenol except for at night I take some demerol. By day 5 I was feeling a little bit more "normal" able to move around a little better.
Here are my tips that I've learned from this board!
Buy a pack of mens tank tops to wear under your binder so that it doesn't rub the stiches.
Buy/borrow a bath seat with a back to sit in the shower.(My Dr. let me shower after 48 hours, all Dr's are different with this)
Buy a pair of really comfy one size too big pajamas w/ elastic waist for easy on/off
Plan on sleeping in a recliner if you have one for the first several days - but make sure it's easy to close or you have someone who can help you close it!
Take a pillow with you when you leave the hospital to put between you and the seatbelt. My hospital gave me one from my room b/c I forgot to bring one from home.
Focus on your protein intake and minimize your carbs. The protein helps with healing and I'm told the lower carbs helps keep the swelling down.
That's all I can think of right now! Good luck and keep us posted!

Congratulations on your surgery tomorrow, I wish you all the best. I had a LBL with anchor cut and Brachioplasty a week ago and had very little pain but am swelling pretty bad now.
I'm really scared to do my thighs, I think the pain would be pretty intense for me because I have alot of loose skin on my inner thighs.
I just posted pics of my brachioplasty on my profile. Debi
