Dr. alejandro Quiroz

Can anyone tell me about him? I had a phone consult with him on Monday and would like any info on him. I'm having a body lift and breast lift also maybe augmentation. Thank you.....

Do you have any before pics? I'm curious what you started out with vs. where you are now. I've noticed that Dr. Q isn't the greatest with BL and Brach - but your's is the only LBL that I've seen from Dr. Q that is anything short of amazing.  I know alot of massive weight loss patient's need some revisions. (I'm guessing I'll be one of them since I have sooo much, especially in my torso, after losing 189 lbs). What has been his response to your unahppiness with the results?

I've consulted with 5 PS, and Dr. Q was one of them. I'm still debating between Dr. Q and Dr. Sauceda. I'm curious about your before pics, because if you had as much excess skin as I currently have....then I definitely need to take your experience/results into account and directly address my concerns with him now.

It is odd though because I have been on these boards for years and seen sooooo very many people come back from Dr. Q with AMAZING results. But...obviously not all of his patient's are OH'ers....so it's good to hear the good and the bad and make an informed decision.

(just as a note of reference my torso excess skin is very similar to Baileymouse's pre-PS, except that I have a bit more of a hanging 'upper pannus' in addition to the low hanging 'lower pannus'.)

I am sure I was not an easy case. I had little lower pannus and it was all midsection which is why we went with the anchor incision.  That would have been great except for the big wad of skin and flesh that now protrudes from between my breasts.  It seriously looks like a chicken beak.  And this is after I paid for one revision.  My LBL scar is horrible but my stomach is flat that's for sure.  He did a good job with my mons area.  I like one of my breasts but my breasts are square and he sewed one nipple on several inches too high and too far in and now I can't wear a v-neck top or even a white top as I have yet to find a bra that covers my nipple and it shows through anything white or just plains gets exposed when I wear a v-neck.  Again, I already paid for a second surgery on the breasts to correct the extra skin and dog ears, etc that were left from the first surgery.  My breasts are still a mess.  My arms are a disaster much like Baileymouse's.  Anyone who goes to him for arms is just plain nuts. 

Look, I was this man's biggest cheerleader.  If you look at my photos after my first surgery it's clear that something went very wrong.  Of course, I was in such denial I just knew that the next surgery would take care of everything.  Well, it didn't.  Worse yet, that man had the nerve to say to me he didn't understand why I wasn't' happy and if I wanted to try to correct the mess I had I would need to pay him an additional $5,000.  Of course they tell you that they don't charge for revisions but you only have to pay the $1500 for the surgical suite costs but apparently that is only at their discretion.  Yeah, when I got the bill for an additional surgery I lost it.  That's when I finally knew that this guy had completely washed his hands and was not going to do anything to help me.

And it gets worse than that but I'll leave it at that.  Yes, some people are very happy with their results.  That's why I went to him.  I thought he was great and everyone seemed so happy with him.  I never expected to come out looking like I did but I do understand that bad surgical results happen.  They do.  No one's fault necessarily so I don't even blame him for the less than ideal.  What I find indefensible is him not wanting to fix the mess that was made of my body.  And the nerve to ask me to pay him thousands more!  I have been to several surgeons locally to find out what my options are and one of them told me that man should be paying me to give him another chance to fix his work.  Another one, upon seeing my body, asked "who DID THIS to you?  Not, who was your surgeon but  like who did this hatchet job on you?  Let me tell you, that was beyond upsetting.

I surely have no answers for anyone else.  I wouldn't dream of telling anyone to go to him or not to.  But after going through a very difficult year trying to deal with being betrayed by this man that I put all my trust in, I do want to tell my story so that at least you have that to consider.  You most likely will be fine. It seems that as long as everything is fine there's no problem.  He doesn't seem interested in correcting his mistakes and unfortunately for me I have no money left and will have to live with this disgusting body of mine for who knows how long until I can find the money to pay another surgeon to correct everything that went wrong with Dr. Quiroz..  I have an open wound that oozes and bleeds every single day that is a result of my surgery with Dr. Quiroz.  Again, I will have to live with that until I can find the money to have that taken care of.   Just know what is possible.  Will it happen to you?  Probably not.  You'll probably be find.  But then, I never expected it to happen to me either and I am anything but fine.

Sorry to hear about all the miscommunication with Cosmed, it happens, it should not happen but it does. I had all my plastic surgery done through Cosmed/Dr. Quiroz, well one of them I had in the States which was a disaster and went to Dr. Quiroz to have it fixed, neither here nor there as amazing as I look I am still a weight loss patient of 140 pounds and does not matter how many surgeries I have I will never look like a super model. I can see your pictures and I know Dr. Quiroz will do what he can to continue with your plastic surgery.    In my bariatric group I always prepare weight loss patients and remind them that our expectation might be too high because we have an awful lot of skin that needs to be removed.  Sometimes it takes 2 or more surgeries in the same area, keeping in mind every ones body is different and have different needs.    Consider continuing with Dr. Quiroz since he is now aware of your situation. When you call Cosmed always leave a message to talk to Joyce or Dr. Quiroz himself.     Sonja

Any hints on how to get on psjourneys.com?  I signed up for that site weeks ago and have never gotten a response regarding a user name, etc. so cannot use the site.  I don't want to pay for their "premium" membership without knowing and seeing more of the site.  Very frustrating...

They have been having some problems lately.  They are revamping the site and that seems to be causing issues.  As of last week they posted that every new request for admission has been given.  I know it's frustrating but they are trying to keep up and I would email them and let them know that you are still waiting on approval.  Honestly, the moderators there are good people but I think they are a bit overwhelmed right now.  It's a great site for anyone who wants to research ps out of the country so I hope you will stick with it until you can get in.

Thanks for the info.  I just emailed them again a few minutes and will see what happens.  I first tried probably 6 weeks ago and emailed them 3-4 weeks ago and have never had any response.  Very frustrating, but I'll keep trying as I'm very interested in checking things out.  Thanks again!

After seeing Gracies pictures, that should be more than enough to move you away from this "doctor".  AND,  when she did have an emergency situation with an open wound and asked for assistance, he would not respond at all!!!  This is not someone who I would let perform surgery on my hamster, let alone on my body.  I came very close to selecting Dr. Q as my surgeon for PS. OMG, how lucky am I that I saw a post from Gracies. 

We all are looking for the best for the least amount of money as we all know how expensive PS is and how rarely insurance pays for our procedures.  We have lived in our swollen bodies for years and now when we finally have lost the weight, we want to look like everyone else, not some shrunken Shar Pei.  BUT, we cannot sacrifice safety.  This guy would have lost his license in the US and it sickens me that he is still allowed to advertise on this site where he will undoubtedly get another unsuspecting victim to spend countless dollars for, at best ,substandard results. 

In fairness to the "good" doctor,  there have been a few *****port that they were satisfied with his work.  They must have been blessed or perhaps their bodies reacted differently.  I visited with my surgeon Wednesday and told him I am going for plastics.  He was thrilled but warned me:  DO NOT GO TO JUST ANY PS.  BARIATRIC PATIENTS ARE DIFFERENT.  THE SKIN IS MUCH MORE FRAGILE AND DOES NOT RESPOND LIKE OTHER NON- BARIATRIC PATIENTS.  GO TO A SURGEON THAT HAS A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH WEIGHT LOSS PATIENTS!

 I have no vested interest in slamming Q except to warn others of Gracies experience.  I was horrified for her when I saw her pictures and even more horrified when I learned more about her experience.  After I saw what he had done to her, I vowed to take up her cause and had I not had a detour with gallbladder/exploratory lap, I would have already been screaming from the mountaintop.  LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A PLASTIC SURGEON. 

MODERATORS:  I have repeatedly asked for a response to an email I sent to you asking you to investigate this situation.  If he is this bad and dangerous, OH should NOT be promoting him no matter how many advertising dollars he adds to this site!!!

Please contact me regarding one of your advertisers. This foreign plastic surgery group is a potential danger to OH members due to possible malpractice. I have been in contact with another OH member who is reporting very serious medical issues related to the performance of plastic surgery and aftercare in Mexico. This group advertises on both the plastic surgery and international boards. Should these allegations be true, they are a threat to the welfare of OH members and should be exposed for malpractice. It would be a grave disservice to OH members should this doctor be allowed to advertise and gain unsuspecting patients from this site should these allegations be proven true. It is entirely possible that these allegations can be explained and the doctor has a legitimate reason for his performance and therefore, I believe both doctor and patient should be investigated to determine authenticity of claims. As much as this is a board of like minded individuals looking for ways to beat obesity, it is important to note that members look to these boards for information and guidance. It would be a tragedy if one of the OH members suffered due to implied endorsement of a physician that advertises on these boards. Please contact me as soon as possible.

Sauceda looks good on the surface.  He is responsive and the others who have used him are very happy and satisfied.  His incision lines look good and his follow up seems very good.  My biggest concern with him is the length of time he permits patients to be under anesthesia.  12 hour surgery is dangerous and even the most aggressive US docs do not go that long.  If I do select him, I will elect for lesser  procedures done at once to shorten anesthesia time.  More expensive, Yes, but I will not risk the extra time. 

Please do not allow a slick website and an implied endorsement from OH to influence you to Dr. Q.  I truly believe that it won't be long before we read something really horrible about this guy.  Wait, we already did.  Ask Gracies.
