Scar opens after a YEAR!!!!

This month is a year since my TT, hernia repair and implants.
I had many problems with the TT incisions, including resurgery, opening the incision in office several times and packing several places at different times. I thought I was finally over it, healed and done.
Last night I noticed a bubble on the left side, in the area where I had one of the last openings that had healed so well. While washing, the bubble burst, with pus coming out.
I'm thinking suture since I don't absorb the absorbable ones and  reject the permenant ones.  I will be seeing the PS as soon as I can get an appointment.
I am taking my darling Mother on a 10 day cruise Dec 8 to celebrate her being breast cancer free after surgery and radiation. I really wanted to do things like swim with dolphins and enjoy the pool and hot tubs on ship. I bought 2 new swim suits thinking how hot I was gonna look.
Sometimes I just want to scream.

Sally-
This is just awful.  But you still have plenty of time to heal before the cruise.  Let us know what the doc has to say.  Good luck.

Thanks for the well wishes. This is SOOOOOOO depressing for me. I hate to whine, but damn this gets so old after all this time.

I can well imagine.  Hopefully once this heals, the ordeal will finally be over for you.

Sally,  Make sure you keep that appointment!   I had both breasts, nine months PostOp pop bubbles (stitches) within a few days of each other.  They healed perfectly and quickly and the surgeon said it was very common.

Have fun on the cruise and stay out of the water!  I know, I'm sounding like your Mom right now, but I'm very germ-a-phobic and I'd hate to hear that you ended up with some crazy staph problem from your fun vacation.  Good luck and don't worry - it will be fine!  Donna

A couple of the stitches I could see when they surfaced. This time I can't see anything. Did you actually see the stich?

Nope.  Never saw anything but two round openings.  And of course, the puss.  Yuck.

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for asking.  I went for a checkup on Tuesday and had two seroma's drained from the left side of my neck and today it looks wonderful!!!  It's coming along great and it doesn't hurt much now.  I had lower eyelid corners taped (surgical tape) because the surgeon says the results are better but that I can remove the tape when I'm out in public.  Well, I went back to work today and I pulled off the tape and realized that I had a small allergic reaction to the adhesive in the tape - it looks like friction burns where the tape was  removed.  I phoned the nurse and she'll call me back soon.  Swelling is up a bit and it's red but my concealer works well on it.

Yep, I'm in makeup today - with surgeon's permission.  I still have swelling but it's okay and I feel comfortable in public now.   As for the makeup, it's a mixed bag.  I lost a lot of eyelashes (normal for surgery) and so I put more lower lid liner than normal and it looks good but I don't exactly look like 'me'  yet (maybe that's a good thing.  And I think I need to re-learn how to do my makeup.   I think it's on the heavy side - I'm thinking a bit *****ish - forgive the expression!  My eyes are so much larger now and the eye makeup so much more dominant that I look a bit theatrical (more polite term).  I have a business lunch today and I'll keep my glasses on to blunt the effect.  I'll post a photo maybe tonight or tomorrow latest.  Love, Donna (Babs)

Donna - You're right about the makeup.  I went for my 3 month post-eye/face/neck lift yesterday and the PS said typically pre-op makeup is too much post op.  In particular, blush and contouring are needed less because you get more natural contouring from revealing the cheek bones.  Woohoo!
