Does anyone else have a giant Pannus?

My body is so weird, I am definitely large, I know that, I weigh 313 and it all isnt' in my pannus, but seriously, if I could LOP that thing off and trim up a bit everyone else, I WOULD BE FINE.  I do NOT want to lose my bum or my boobs.  I do NOT want to become this skinny minny person, I adore my "thickness" I just want to be a "normal" thickness, whatever that means, haha

As, I'm losing weight, (I've lost 35 pounds) prior to surgery, I notice I'm getting a waist, but I have a feeling that pannus is here to stay!!!

Anyone else same body type, same feeling feelings?

I'm having surgery in a month.  I was originally planning on the RNY, but am strongly considering the band now.

I'm 5'5 - 313lbs

My measurements are 46 chest
46 waist
56 hips(below the pannus)

Well I think many overweight people have a large pannus which is a pain in the anus

Actually I weighed 412lbs, 5'8" and my belly was the largest thing on my body.  Multiple pregnancies have made sure it likes to hang too!  But as I work out and weight train I do see the belly shrinking.  I carb and calorie cycle.  So there is hope, however, you can't spot lose pounds in a certain area.  You will lose all over so you may want to say bye to the butt and boobs but you can help them along.  I do the elliptical and stair step and my butt is starting to form rather nicely actually.

Good luck and don't worry about the end result just get healthy.  You can always resort to PS.  Heck they even do butt implants now.

When I first started out I looked like a weeble-wobble...seriously...check out my profile.  My pannus doesn't hang low enough to touch my thighs now but it is still the biggest part of me.  You would never know by looking at pics now because I wear a girdle or compression garments under my clothes 9 hours a day!  I love my girdles now!  When I get home after work and take them off and get comfy in my pjs or lounge pants I feel weird letting everything hang out.

I also thought to myself in the beginning I could live with my saggy stomach but knew I would want my arms done.  Now....I really want my stomach done first...arms a very close second and boods third...everything will be icing on the cake.

I am current trying to take a loan out on my 401k (before it loses much more $ and I have nothing left) to get my stomach done by the end of this year....in another year I will get my arms done....etc, etc.

I joke and say I have a 5 year plan!

After losing 110+ lbs, my flumpy gut and hangy boobs are the only major issues I have that other people can see (can't see the elephant skin in my thighs with pants on). I had my weight pretty evenly distributed, but the gut was definitely the worst.

You might love your boobs and butt... but you're probably going to lose them well before that pannus goes away. I miss my butt!! When I get PS, they're actually going to take some of my pannus flab and put it in my butt so it isn't flat and boney anymore.

I'm a big girl, I have a large frame and large muscles... I have no desire to be a size 0. I'll be totally happy being a comfortable size 8. I've never wanted to be a boney cricket and I'm glad that I've still got some of my thickness even now that I'm almost at a healthy BMI. My PS says he might get me into a size 6... I seriously doubt it because I am not that petite and never was.

Ya know, I'd be happy with a size 12!  Forget size 8 or 6, oh my goodness, no!  I've been wearing at least a 14 since 5th grade, I remember going school clothes shopping and not being able to buy what the other kids were buying.

This is why I'm considering getting the lab band instead of the RNY, I honestly don't want to lose too much and I'd be happy with a BMI in the "overweight" range, a healthy BMI for my weight would put me weighing about 130, honestly I'll be happy at about 175, maybe some ppl would disagree with me, but that's just me.

I've been overweight my entire life, why now all of the sudden would I want to be so skinny?

347/194-back up to 215/189  48lbs lost before surgery!

Ya know, you should really think about getting healthy and not the size or how many pounds you want to be...The lap band worked for me, I had to lose about 60 pounds and ended up losing more. Im now a size 2-4 in jeans and am loving every minute of it....Just take your time, Im 16 months out from my lap band and almost a year out from my plastic surgery....I didn't think of tomorrow, I just lived for today....
Best of luck honey....

I have been overweight my entire life as well.  But,  I am wondering if you are saying you will be happy at an "overweight" BMI is true or do you just not believe it will ever be possible to get to a "normal" BMI.

I am not flaming you by any means.  I do not want you to fell bashed.  I have been there.  When I started this process I NEVER thought I would get as far as I have.

I am also very concerned bout getting too small.  But as I lose more I realize I can still lose even more and still look "normal".  I still don't know if I will ever reach a normal BMI without the help of plastics  and that is okay with me.  I am actually afraid that if I do reach that BMI of less than 25 before plastics that after PS I may look emaciated.  I have seen a few pics over the last two years where that has happened.

I really just want to look healthy and BE healthy.  And, at this point that is what I try my best to do everyday.

I really just want to let you know that anything is possible and ultimately no matter which WLS you choose you still have the power to control your future.

Hi Waterfall!

Go for the band if you can! My goal was also to be "normal"...anything under 200 lbs was normal in my eyes and my goal!! I am THRILLED to be a size 14-16 right now, and over time, maybe a 10-12. If not, that's okay because I fit in normal clothes now! ( size L or XL in a regular store!) I have always been very obese, even as a child and I am about my HS weight right now (180). I exercise and eat healthy and feel GREAT! I wore most of my weight around the middle as well and my panni was HUGE! The removal was the best thing ever. Now I'm having a breast lift and arms done. I'm almost three years out from my band surgery and would never go back!

Good luck with your decision!
