I have what i knoe now as an infection because my body is not dissolving the sutures, I gone back to the doc they pulled some out  that had not dissolved after over 2 months.  I'm still getting some nagging feeling in the area under my breast and in one area of the tt incision I pulled out a some suture.  Any experiences there has been a recall on certain types.  I want my body to absorbs these don't want to have surgery regarding this.......

I've had a few even several months down the road.  Mine were all knots.  They'd start out as a sore area, then look almost like a pimple.  Finally the knot would break the skin.  PS told me to just clip them myself or pull a bit and they'd come out.  First one I did, I thought I was going to unravel everything.  There was the knot and about 2 inches of line along with it.  Beth

Everything seems to have healed fine.  Not sure what you mean by tunneling though.

I had some sutures work their way out from my scalp almost a year after my facelift.  They started out as a bump, then became itchy before the suture broke through the skin.  The longest was about 3/4 inch long.  I also had one about an inch long work it's way out of my lap incision after a couple of months. Once they come out the area heals again.

I had a reaction to the sutures, and also a bad infection. (See photos on my profile)  I had to have IV antibiotics in the hospital for 4 days plus a week of oral antibiotics at home to rid the infection.  I also pulled out an area of suture about 3 inches long, and then clipped it, leaving a little "tail" so my surgeon could find it when I went back to see him. BUT the other end popped back under my skin and that area would not heal and kept draining.  It finally did heal this week. He told me if it didn't heal he would have to go back in and find it and remove it himself. He said the dissolving sutures could take up to 6 months to dissolve, and I couldn't have an open spot for 6 months, so he would have to numb it and look for a suture. Once the other sutures were out though, everything healed. I still have swelling on my left side, and I think there is suture still inside there around my hip area.  Maybe when it dissolves the swelling will go down. When I asked the hospital doctors, most of them said it was "unlikely" I had a reaction to the suture because they are supposed to be hypoallergenic. So who knows? I have not heard of any recall though.

I have always had this issue with any surgery. With a C-section 19 years ago, with my WLS, and now with a TT and BA. Every incision spits disolvable sutures before they have a chance to desolve. My PS used something different than the usual, but didn't help. I have them poking out, and I cut them off. I also have the incision open a tiny spot and then the suture rises to the surface. I don't think I want any more surgery, because I'm sick of the suture issues. I wonder is there ANY material that won't cause this problem?

I had a LBL & BL, I didnt have them come out on the BL, but with LBL, I am STILL having issues, at first didnt know why. I had WHOLES in my sides that I had to pack etc. I have almost healed those and NOW, my backside is having the problem.. sore, swelling like pimples on incision, I KNOW those mono crill stitches want to come out... Dr says it's rare... but yeah... I guess we're just SPECIAL!!

If you type is "spitting sutures" you will find that there are lawsuits regarding one company that make two types of sutures. Ethicon's  Vicryl and Panancryl sutures are the makers.
