Pannus Removal - Letting Go...??
Hi Kat, I totally understand what your going through, to me as the time got closer to surgery for my LBL I felt this sudden loss that was about to happen, I had that tummy with me since childhood, it was like a warm blanket at night. After my 200 lb weight loss I would find myself playing with it...But now my god the feeling of my hands running straight down to my remodeld mons is the most incrediable feeling ever, no more speed bumps. Lets talk about the sex aspect, everything is right there hubby no longer has to lift and search..LOL I have never had such a liberating experience. When all was said and done I didnt miss it at all. For the first time in my life I feel like a women and love it. The best is when your in the shower and the water runs straight down, no more lifting the panni to clean.

I often think about this whole thing in the shower, for the reason you mentioned, the whole lifting and cleaning under business. Wow will it be great to be done with THAT! I look forward to the sex aspect as well - lately when I lay on my side I just have to laugh at the way it kind of puddles out and has to be lifted here and there. Ugh! Yeah, it'll be great to be done with all this for sure! Thanks for your reply. Glad things have gone well for you!
I had my pannus since age 12! After a 185lb weight loss it was still big, just hanging. I had it removed three years ago this month. I had almost 11lbs removed!
I am still amazed with the results. My surgeon is a genius. My tummy is flatter than flat and he repositioned my bellybutton.
I do touch the area sometimes and feel like something is missing. It was just with me for so long. I know that having that excess skin removed makes me more healthy and mobile. I was able to increase my exercise. I don't regret my surgery at all.
Good luck with your surgery.
Hi Kat,
I had a LBL ( which goes all the way around me ) 12 almost 13 weeks ago. My pannus hung way low ( if you dare you can view what it looked like on my profile ). I didn't regret it going at all....and the feeling of it gone is the ABSOLUTE BEST feeling in the whole wide world. Now I can see my feet standing straight up....bend over without it getting in the way.....see my pubic hair ( sorry if that is TMI but it is true for the first time in my life ). Sit without my tummy sitting in my lap or lack of a lap....see my upper thighs. It is just such a amazing feeling. I remember in the recovery room reaching down and feeling that my stomach was flat ( well....almost that is ) it is so great to have it gone. I know that you will be thrilled after it is done too.
Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
My pannus isn't real large. I have a lot of skin and fat in the rear and hips. He will remove 10 to 15 pounds skin total with my lower body lift. I look forward to it. funny I remember in my early thirties the day I looked in the mirror and noticed for the first time that my stomach had fallen over.
I am doing a lot of thinking about my breasts. I wear a 38DD bra and it supports me well. My breast are flat and hang to my waist. I am having a breast reduction because he thinks I will get better long term results than with just a breast lift. I can't imagine having smaller breasts or having breasts that look different than what they looked like when I was this weight before at 29 years old. It is a real struggle for me. I am going to have to do some real soul searching and some real talking with my surgeon. Loris

Sorry, I can't relate to anything you're saying! When I went to my PreOp for my LBL last week and the surgeon grabbed my "apron" to demonstrate just how much he would remove - I was at first embarrased by it - again - and then relieved that it would soon be gone forever. I have absolutely no desire to have a big belly, will never miss that disguisting blob of skin and have absolutely no fear of moving on with my life.

Check out my hanging belly! Pics are in my profile. With exception of nighttime swelling I have a flat stomach and it is so weird, Still trying to get used to it. Good Luck....you won't be dissappointed. Oh and body image.....just wait!!! I feel like I have never felt ever!
