Seroma question

Ok..so I'm just wondering if I'm panicking for no reason. So I am a little over 4 weeks postop from LBL w/o anchor cut. Although I still have swelling, the most swelling is directly above my belly button and then it evens back out. It's almost like there's a ledge over my belly button. It seems like I've ready about the "ledge" on here but I can't remember what it was exactly. My question is...when you lie down, can you still see a seroma? When I lie down, my stomach is perfectly flat and my stomach not hard above my bellybutton..but when I'm up..that's when you can tell it. I just don't know how common it is to have swelling right above the bellybutton when I didn't have an anchorcut. It is firm and I know b/c I pushed on it so much last night that I made my stomach sore..but I didn't feel the "swoosh" although I know that's not a tell-tale sign that you have one. Any advice? TIA *hugs*

Hey Holly When you lay down....everything disappears...but when you are standing....the way my doc did it...was he woudl tap it and see if it rolled like a water bed.... I may be wrong, but seromas general do not stay high above the cut...not seperated by some flat and then the cut..... let see if this makes sense... like a sandwich....since we all like to eat top...flat middle...seroma bottom...incision Hope this helps russ

I had an ancho TT, arms, breast and auxillia and implants. however..i have a seroma ...mid section betwen my belly button and sternum..so it sounds like where you may be describing..anyway it is hard..no swoosh.. dr got out 150 cc wed then today went back he got about 45 cc.. will go monday again.. i had drains in for 5 weeks..but the last was infected and had to come out.. i had the seroma before that i believe..just didnt know what it was.. i can tell cause its hard and pulls my incision.. i feel pressure there... its tight.. seromas are a way of life for many.. i was so sad that i developed one.. i am praying its resolves its self.. good luck tricia

I was in at 3 weeks and had swelling on my left hip really a lot and one side of my belly button. Dr. drained some. He told me that they reabsorb or we could go to the OR and put drains in. I said forget drains, let them reabsorb. He said 3 months..... I figure that my bruises are always 2 or 3 times as long to disappear as other peoples that it will be 6 months, but what the heck. the last drains plugged so what is to say new ones wouldn't.
