What size implants did you get?

Linda; Thanks for asking this question. I've only had one first consult so far and he told me that I've got enough breast tissue to maintain a C with just a lift, no implant. I was a 38DD pre-op and am currently a 34C/32D depending on the bra. My husband and I keep debating whether or not I should pursue an implant anyway - kind of an insurance policy against the girls being too small. I'm 5' 5", 132 lbs and after my tummy tuck will probably be a size 2-4 (right now, I'm a 4-6). While I want to maintain my full C-cup, the last thing I want is to look like I'll topple over in a windstorm because my boobs are ridicu-big. I find it reassuring to know that I'm not the only one struggling with these decisions. I feel like with RNY I didn't know what I was going to look like after but no matter what I looked like, it was an improvement. With plastics, I'm just worried that I'll look better, but not exactly how I had in mind. And this is a lot of money to spend to be disappointed... Blessings, Jennifer

This is a scary thing, isn't it? Jennifer, you expressed my feelings exactly. I HAD to have WLS (lapband) and anything would have been an improvement. Now, with ps, I worry that it won't be what I expect or want...and it IS a LOT of money. My surgeon is recommending 450-500 ccs, silicone, unders. At first, that freaked me out cause I thought I'd be way too big. But then, I measured my BWD. It was 16.5 cms, which is at the top of the charts! According to Mentor, that means I should use a 600cc implant. Egads! So 450-500 doesn't sound too bad. PS says that'll put me at a full C. Surgery is next Tuesday, so we'll see. Cindy

Cindy, I was wondering...what is BWD? There is some sort of formula to figure out what size you need? Megan

BWD is base width measurement. Essentially, it's the width of your breast at the nipple or where the nipple should be in the case of those needing a lift. There's a diagram at http://www.geocities.com/iloveanimew/BWDdescr.jpg My BWD was 12.5cm for one and 13 for the other (he measured up where my nipple would be placed). My implants are a Inamed Style 20 300 cc which are 10.9cm in width and high profile. PS said I had a fair amount of breast tissue left on the outer area of my breasts so it made more sense to go with a high profile smaller width implant. Beth

I only spoke to one PS about a breast lift then he reccommended a small implant of 150cc which would give me a c cup. Right now a wear a 34 d cup filled with skin. This PS will only do one procedure at once so I am opting to have the LBL done in July. This is an issue I have toyed around with for a long time, I thought I just wanted a lift but now I think I need some implants. I have no fullness up top at all. My boobs llo like two wind socks blowing in the wind. I would go by your surgeons suggestion. If your not sure go with another consult. Best of Luck! Janet

I was a 34 almost B (probably should have been a 36 A) got 330 CC round silicone implants and now am a 36D. Initially I felt absolutely huge, but as I adjusted to them they dont seem quite so big, just a part of me. I really had wanted no more than a C, but the D, while a little on the big side is OK. even tho I am 4'11" tall, I am not a tiny build and never will be. When/if I replace my implants, I will keep the same size.
