Our pets
Back i***** I convinced my husband to get a dog. He wanted a "Man" dog, a big, strong, powerful dog and I wanted a poodle or small lap dog. He said he didn't want any "sissy" dog. So we went to the Animal Protection League and looked on their computer for dogs that owners wanted to get rid of. There were no pictures, only descriptions. We decided on a few dogs, both small dogs and "Man" dogs. One of the "Man" dogs was a boxer mix. She was 9 months old. I decided to go and see it, and it was wild, very excited, jumped all over me. I instantly fell in love with her, and took her home with me that night. My husband was just estatic that I'd gotten a "Man" dog. We named her Tabby. After chewing up the furniture, my shoes, the afghans, the carpet, she settled down, and Tabby has turned out to be the best dog. Very protective. Very lovable. Just beautiful. She will be 10 years old next May. And she has turned out to be a lap dog anyway. My husband will be in the easy chair, and Tabby (all 65 pounds of her) will jump up into his lap and lay there asleep.
In 1999, my cousin called me from Louisiana, and asked if we'd take a small dog, a lap dog. My husband instantly said NO but once I found out that if no one took this dog, they were going to put her down, I told my cousin to bring her up to us immediately!! My husband was NOT real happy with me. Her name is Bella Mae. She is a Shih Tsu. I think this is how to spell it. When we went over to pick her up, she immediately went up to my husband and licked him repeatedly, and he was hooked. She also is very lovable, licking us all the time. She is a lover and a snuggler. She will be 10 years old next year also.
