New to the board!!!!

Hello I am new here. I didn't know this board existed. I was lurking around and found it. I am Pre-op. My surgery is in 4 days. I have 3 beautiful children. 2 older girls, 20 and 15. I have a little boy who is 5. I have told the older kids about my pending surgery, however I have not mentioned anything to my son. I think he is too young to process the info. He'll understand that I am in the hospital. Does anyone else here have young children to explain this too? Btty Boop60

Btty, Hope you are doing well. I did explain it to my 5 year old. Not sure he understood everything, but I was honest with him. What helped us though is that my cousin, and thier caretaker during my surgery and recovery, had the surgery also -with remarkable results! So my 5 year old expected me to look like her when I came home LOL! Now he understands that it will take some time and eventually I'll be like "aunt Cathy" LOL Let me know how you are doing!
