Help 4 yr. old have friends??

She's an only child but loves people. Any advice on how to help her play with the neighbor kids; most of them are 8. My daughter likes them; but I don't know how to help her 'join' in. Thanks!! Pat

Hello Pat, Is your daughter in school yet? Maybe that would be a good place to start. If it is too late to enroll her in a pre-k program in your area, maybe you could enroll her in a daycare maybe once a week where she could interact w/ others her age. Or maybe just find a program w/ other three and four yr olds. (ballet, library story groups) That way she could break the ice w/ them and begin making friends. I'm not sure I'd want my four year old interacting w/ eight year olds because of the age difference. My six year old finds it hard dealing w/ my four year old because she feels that playing with my younger daughter is to babyish--imagine that!! I am thriiled that my four yr old is a self starter, and self-motivator. I am so happy about this because she finds joy in playing w/ her toys and things alone.
