Help!!! Keeping 3 y.o. occupied/distracted

Any of you parents have any suggestions???

It is cold & dark here. Dark when Hunter & I leave in the morning, and dark when we pull into the driveway in the evening.

Too much TV & his 3 year old age.... I am stumped. (when I turn off the TV he will throw a FIT, and he has been having a real temper this week, I know it is age-related too)

I want to LEAVE the TV off..... and play games, crafts, play with his toys, interact with him.

The house is JUST TOO SMALL this time of the year, did I mention that it is dark & cold???

Jamie, I think you read my mind. It's so hard when it's so cold outside to keep them busy. It's supposed to warm up here for a few days so I'm hoping to get out a bit. Sadie loves to play games like candyland...we got her some of the lacing cards recently and she's enjoying them for now....we do playdoh....oh and she loves to help me cook so I let her help stir etc... We read books but usually that's at bedtime. I'm so tired lately that it's hard to keep interacting with her....heck I'm ready for bed long before she is.

Yes, we have board games & cards. I know it is the age too.... We will survive! HEE HEE

Hunter is getting a few decks of cards too... I know I have gotten him Old Maid & have been looking for Go Fish.

We will definately be trying to incorporate him MORE into helping us with chores, too.

The "help" factor has worked wonders for my neices & nephews along with other little ones I have been around. Folding laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. works wonders. Normally the attention span is short so things have to keep changing in order to keep them occupied. Coloring, puzzles, games, flash cards, are good ideas too. Crafts usually work too as long as they aren't too complicated or messy. :)

Yes, I have been thinking that we would bake cookies & let him help in the kitchen more. And I know alot of it is the age & the darkness...... because it is that time of year..... dark.
We will get through this stage.... HEE HEE

Sunrise is @ 10:10am
Sunset is @ 3:41pm

Total daylight is 5 hours & 31 minutes

Soon.... we will be gaining daylight... minute by minute......
