I went in Wednesday morning for the RNY Bypass proceduer. My dr. told mom everything went well and it took 2 hours to finish the surgery up and I was in recovery for 2.5 hours. After that I was put in a room. I can only remember being in my room. I'd say a couple hours after being in my room they came and ask me if I wanted to move to the suite they had. I said sure. So I was moved down the hallway. I must have been asleep because I don't remember that either.

The next morning I had to haave an xray done of my stomache to make sure there were no leaks. That was pretty hard to do cause you had to step up on this lil platform to have it done. But I managed to have it done.

I did have a cath. It was a good thing I did because I became dehydrated and hardley anything was coming from my kidneys. Later on Thursday I had to have a kidney ultra sound. All I can is OH MY GOD. This was very painful cause you gotta lay flat on a table roll over on one side so they can scan the kidnesy then over on the other side so they can get the other one. I think I scared that man to death cause I was much in pain.

They increase my IV fluids and encouraged me to try and drink lots of water. Kinda hard to do but I impressed them with how much water i was drinking.

The nurses helped me get up and walk ever so often. This helps get the gas out. I still have lots though. I went to bed pretty early Thursday. I thinkl I kinda scared them after I done that. They were in to check on me every hour.

I was released Friday. I managed to get my kidneys functioning pretty good and I get up about every 2 to 3 hours here and go pee. It's getting some what easier to get up from the couch to go to the bathroom.

Today I have been to the potty and I have started my vitamins and I have drank my water the whole time. I'm still very sore on my left side from gas pains.Especially around my drain area.

I also managed to make me a 1 oz of ch****n broth and I have kept it down.

I will post again later when I feel like it.

Congrats on being a loser!!!    I'm glad things went well....how scary with the kidneys though.   I remember being really sore for the first week.  After that it was much better.   Get as much rest as you can.  Sip and walk sip and walk.   You soon will see the wonderful effects of this surgery.   Keep us posted on how you're doing.

YAY, Holli!!!!!!  Just like Micheele said, sip & walk, sip & walk.  Everyday you will feel a little better!!!!  I am so glad that you are out of the hospital, and your kidneys are better than they were.
Keep on top of your pain meds, in the long run, you will feel more comfortable.

TAKE CARE & keep us updated.

Yeah Holli!

Congrats! The best advice I ever got was walk, walk, walk. It cures everything, any discomfort you might get in the next few weeks, if you just walk a little it helps so much. Keep us posted on how your doing!
