4th Plans, Anyone??
Hunter & I have volunteered to walk & hand out candy in the 4th of July parade here. I think it will be a blast!!! My DH has to work, so, it was going to be a mommy/son day, anyway.
Have I told you all that he has become a little 'mocking bird'?? I am learning that I need to watch what I say & how I react to things A WHOLE LOT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I've got one of those mocking birds at my house too!!! Sometimes it's not so cute!! We have some big plans for the 4th....sorry this is a long one.
My sisters, their families, friends, and our family are renting a campground in WI. It has 7 cabins along with a big lodge building with another room off from it with 4 more bunks. It sleeps 64 people. There's a kitchen, refridgerators, stoves, and running water (not drinkable but can use to wash up etc....). We've been going to this place since I was about 7 yrs old...OMG that means for 30 yrs now. It started out as a place for our family reunion for my dad's family...now we do it on our own. We should have about 40 people there. It's $450 for the 3 nights. We usually potluck the food except for lunch everyone brings whatever they want for that. We planned burgers and brats one night, fajitas one night, and steak/chicken for one night. We each make a very big salad and some kind of dessert or two to share. We usually have way too much food. Breakfasts will include...scrambled eggs, pancakes, and or biscuits and gravy. We are each also bringing a lb of bacon and a lb of sausage....also fruit and juice. We are all responsible for our own drinks.
Funny part of this whole weekend is a few yrs ago when my husband came with us for the first time.....ok he's legally blind...sees well in the day but is completely blind in the dark......was lighting off the fireworks for us all. So it's been a running joke in our family that we let the blind man light off the fireworks. Well, this yr my sister found some with glow in the dark fuses...hehehe we are getting him some as a joke.
Can you tell I'm very excited about this whole weekend??? Sadie will absolutely love being outside and swimming all weekend long. We have stocked up on sunscreen and bug spray.
Not sure what our plans are. We were supposed to have the girlies but things got changed around so that they can go visit their grandmother with their mom. Thinking we might hit a cookout with some of my family & then do the fireworks here in town to cap off the evening. Hope you all have a safe & wonderful 4th!
I do get the 3 day weekend (ah the benefits of working for the state government) which I am much looking forward to. We decided that we are going to go to the cookout to spend time with some of my family, will be heading in to old town afterwards to see what they have to offer & catch the fireworks. Saturday I will be helping a friend who is moving & then Sunday is a little get together with some of the ladies off of my state board. Pretty busy weekend with lots of cool things going on. I am getting pretty excited.
Hey Court, I saw you over on the VA board. I used to be really active over there before I got pregnant with Sarah. Back when Leilani, Wendy and Carol were all still around. DH and I used to go to all of the get togethers and had a blast with everyone which was before we even got married. We went to the first Richmond get together they had which was in June of 2005. We had sooo much fun. I really miss it a lot. There are so many new faces over there now. I'm not sure if anyone would even remember me. I think Tink would. Maybe I'll stop by the board to say HI. I do lurk over there every once in a while. I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend.
Sounds like you and Hunter are going to have a blast at the parade. We don't have any special plans. Since our anniversary is the 9th (3 years this year) we usually celebrate over the 4th and go up to Williamsburg, VA since we get time off from work anyway. This year we're not doing anything because of everything going on with the house. I actually looking for a place for Sarah and I to run away to so we can get away from this mess here at the house.. LOL Over Memorial Day weekend I told JoAnn Sarah and I were going to come and crash her cookout. I wonder if we could threaten to crash her 4th of July weekend. LOL
I know what you mean about having a 'mocking bird'. LOL The other night Tom (DH) was picking at me. He said something and I told him to 'Hush'. Well little Missy turned around and said 'Hush Daddy'. It was funny at the time but feel the same way you do abou****ching what we say and how we react to things now.
AAAAHHHHHHHHH, in the long run, the mess in your house will BE SO WORTH IT!!!1 But it does SUCK living thru it!!!
I know that after 18 months, I am finally settling in & now have a PILE of yard sale boxes!!!..................... But truely, in the end IT IS SO WORTH ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!
Have a FUN 4th & go crash that cookout!!!! HEE HEE HEE HEE
