HOW do you get your daughter to sit still to do her hair? Seriously, Gracie will not let me put ONE pony tail in. Last night, her and Daddy showed up to pick me up....SHE HAD SIX little pony tails all over her head!!!! It was so cute the way Martina (her sitter) did her hair. But SERIOUSLY>>>HOW?????????

Even though I have a boy... My daycare lady has been doing daycare since FOREVER... so I try & "stick around" to see how she doew certin things, in my eyes, this is how I try and keep an "even keel" on how things are done at home & at daycare... he is there all day M-F every week!!! Hope that helps!! My babysitter is really good about it all, and we seem to learn from each other, and ultimately it helps HUNTER to grow & learn!! -Jamie

I had the same issues with Sarah. She would let her teacher at daycare put her hair up but woudldn't let me touch it. Now we have our routine. After I get her dressed in the mornings I get her a cup of juice. She sits on my lap on the couch and watches JoJo's Circus while I do her hair. It took some time getting to this point but I made sure to do the same thing every morning. Now she HAS to have her hair up and don't even think about taking it down until it's time to take a bath and go to bed. She also realized that if she moved while I was trying to do her hair it would pull her hair and hurt (because I would have a death grip on her hair..LOL). Try getting her into a routine where you do her hair every morning. Also, try giving her something to do while your doing it like a book or other toy. Good luck & hang in there. Hugs Teresa

Michelle, as you know both of my girls have a FULL HEAD OF HAIR and it's SUPER CURLY!!!!!! so my suggestion is take this MISSION as you would any other....make sure you have everything you need before you get started because if you have to get up in the middle the chances they will come back again to sit down are slim to none. ok but seriously, in the beginning when both of the girls went through the i don't want my hair done phase i would get a little ziploc baggie or little tupperware and put a small amount of snack in there and allow them to snack while i did there hair. that helped wonders because with drinks and such they are more than likely going to tilt their head back and you have to start over. If Gracie is just not wanting to sit still you can try what i've done before, which is sit on the floor with them in between your legs and then take your legs and cross them over theirs. OR i would sit on the couch with them in between my legs (never on top of my legs, they try to get down too easily) and if they tried to get up i would put the death squeeze on them with my legs. kinda like a good workout too. LMAO Camryn was my only "tender-headed" baby and she gave me more of a fit in the beginning. Now she will sit still just fine while i do her hair and the only time i hear her fuss is when i hit a tender spot. here's a picture of Camryn crying getting her hair combed: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d154/franchise0000/DSC02119.jpg good luck Michelle, Frances

Frances, I am soo with you on the 'leg-death-grip'. LOL My husband was home one day when I was doing Sarah's hair and he had to go outside because he couldn't stand to hear her screaming. He just swore I was killing her. As soon as I got done and let her up she when up to daddy and said 'I pretty'.... LOL

When Mallory was smaller, I used to put her in her highchair. No escape. Ha ha ha Now that she is older, she is pretty chill about it and will be pretty still while she sits on her little stool. Some days I do it while she is sitting on her potty while I am waiting for her to 'do something' in the mornings. Playhouse Disney helps keep her attention. She is pretty easy with it now for the most part.
