I'm still alive after the storm!!
Well, we did get hit with the storm. It started at about 12 am Friday...well that's when the snow started winds had already picked up. I woke Fri morning at about 430am to our power having been off at some point.....set the clock laid back down and got up again at 5:15 to work. I started up my computer and first had trouble connecting to the internet then at about 5:30 the power went out. Well, we went back to bed. We finally got power back at about noon. We had seen in our back yard that the top of a big pine tree had snapped off and knocked the lines down....we thought were power lines. Once the power was back on I tried to log on and work. Well, we then realized it wasn't power lines that it was our phone line. So, I had no phone nor internet service. When we called the company, they said they would be here sometime before 6pm on Saturday. Oh shucks I can't work on Friday.....couldn't go to the office either because they closed due to no power. My only complaint was I had 12 hrs of overtime in for the week already so I lost quite a bit of overtime pay. We have to physically work for 40 hrs in the week before overtime kicks in....sooooo instead of 12 hrs I'll get 4. The phone company came at about 2pm Sat didn't bother to knock on the door after they replaced the lines to see if everything was working. I went outside a bit later and there was a note on the door saying they had been there and the repairs were complete. YEAH RIGHT!!! We still had no dial tone and no internet. I was planning on getting a few hours of work in but guess not. Called the company back and the soonest they could get somebody back out was Sunday before 7pm sometime. Sooooo even though our roads were all clear and the sun was shining by Sat am....I was stuck sitting here waiting for them all weekend. Finally they got here at about 10am Sun morning and got everything hooked up and running again. It was a long crazy weekend but we're all safe and have no lasting effects of anything from the storm. Actually we ended up spending quite a bit of time as a family which was nice....teenagers even had to watch movies with us etc... I thought they might die without the internet...NOPE they're still alive!!! The snow is already melting and the yard is pretty muddy again. It's supposed to be in the 50's again by Wed. We actually didn't end up gettin anywhere near the snow amts they were talking. At our house we got probably 6 inches or so....other areas in town were around 10 to 12 inches. It was the wind that was the bad part....trees are down all over town including some on houses and cars. Glas ours was just on the phone line. Just wanted to thank everyone who sent messages checking on us. It means a lot to know people care.
