Birth Control Dilemma

I hit 35 last year & when I went in to have my annual pap smear, my doc said that as a rule she was warning me, that she would NOT renew my BC pills... due to my age!!!! Basically, I have to find another method by this fall when my prescription runs out. I am considering having a tubal... but that will be MAJOR surgery, since I had a TT in '03 I do not have a "true" belly button anymore. My husband & I have a one-baby deal. I am trying HARD to keep up my end of the bargain, but this is really starting to stress me OUT!!!!! (the BC dilemma) My DH & I have talked several times... over several years, since I was pregnant with Hunter...... about him having a vasectomy, but he is a wussy.... and I would personally choose a tubal over an IUD (just my beliefs). I would really appreciate any info/insight/wisdom on this. THANK YOU!!!! -Jamie

Hi Jamie, in my earlier years, I used an IUD, an Introuterin Device .It WORKS.I had mine for over 10 years. Ask your GYN about. No pain to insert. When you want more children, just have your Dr. to remove. My husband was a wus too. Good luck Priscilla

AH HA...I knew I wasn't the only one with a wussy for a husband!! I went in Dec 28th of this past yr and had the Essure procedure done. We knew we were finished with having kids and I also don't want to do the pill due to age and just tired of doing it. Anyway...I went today for my follow up test and my tubes are blocked....I am sterile. It is not surgery of any sort...mine was quick and painless...actually the test today was more uncomfortable than the actual procedure. If you want to check out exactly what it is go to www.essure.com. I'm sooo happy I had it done instead of waiting around for Mr Wussy!! Feel free to ask me any questions about it too if you need to.

Jamie After Emi was born, I had my tubes done...Mine was a bit easier because they did it with my C-Section...I had a TT also, so I know it wouldnt be easy afterwards, so I had them do it after they took Emi....Now a days its so much easier for the man to have a vasectomy, but from what I hear the procedue Michelle had done was easy...I wish you the best..Keep us posted Jen

I'm still struggling with wanting another child. We waited so very long for Janielyn that I kinda want another. I have put so much pressure on myself though cause of my age. I took bcp's for 2 months after she was born but recently stopped them. Just cause I thougth I was stupid to take them in the first place if we kinda want another one and we tried for 10 years for her. lol lol But I look at her and then can't imagine having another one. I know my dh wants to try now but I just cant make up my mind. I hope I can hold out until I am around 42 or let me say IF I have another I want it before I turn 42. Then again I said I would NEVER be pg at 40. well................GOD showed me differntly on that one. IF I do have another I will do the tubes tied thingy. lol lol Denise

After I had my son last year I had the Mirena IUD inserted and a few days later I started to feel very sick and started pulling out massive amounts of hair, migraines, back problems, depression problems and my Dr and I came to the conclusion that not only did I have PPD but the mirena was hurting me too so I had it removed 4 months after I had first gotten it. I felt better within a week. BUT that was my experience. Whenever anyone asks about the IUD I tell them mine, but same thats not always typical. I was never able to use BC pills either. But I have met alot of women who had the same problems with the IUD. There are so many women that get the IUD and have no problems at all with it and thats great. But you wont ever know unless you get it. Right now im terrified because im going to be having the surgery soon and I need to wait atleast 18 months to have another baby, but since I cant be on the pill or have and IUD its just condoms for us... SO im scared of me getting pregnant too soon after the surgery. And even more since I have bad baby fever... I dont want to get pregnant 6 months after.... I hope you decide on something. Plus your still young, you might change your mind and want another within the next 2 years.... Goodluck and I hope you decide on something.
