Hey there girls! I'm usually on the pg board, but I have a mommy question. My 2 year old has a mild case of atypical viral pneumonia. She has been pitiful for a week. We finally got ominicef down her (the only thing that doesnt cause her to vomit). Before she started the meds she had a slight rash that the pediatriacian said was from the virus. Well, now she is on her way to getting better and the rash is really bad. i just wondered if it is the same rash from the virus, or if its the omnicef thats doing it. its a flat red rash, no raised papules. any experience with allergies? thanks! ginnie Mom to Ella Kate 4/20/04 and new baby girl due 12/25/06

No experience with rashes myself, but you should call doctor's office to be on the safe side!! -Jamie & Hunter

Hi there! Called them as soon as they opened (which I was gonna do anyway since she is still sick), and they said that the rash is viral and not from her medicine. Thank goodness! Ginnie

LOL, see my post above! I have a friend at work who's year old son also had the "viral rash" too. Flat red is good according to the doc I saw yesterday. Also, pull the skin a little taught, if the spots go away when you do that then come back when you release, its probably "mild" (in doctors terms, not mommy mild). -Donna
